Fuel Range question...

Hi everyone!
I've just bought my friend's 1998 310. It has 5.7L with alpha drives. I need to boat it from Cheboygan, Mich to Midland, Ontario this May. Anyone have any ideas on what the range is with this boat in this engine config or close to it?

Really enjoying reading up on this great model in this thread!

Use this to calculate how many nautical miles you're going to have to travel. Then do a little searching through this post of ~100 pages to find out what your 98 310 w/5.7's is doing GPH and MPG. If I had to take a guess, id be comfortable with a rough estimation of anywhere between 1.0 - 1.4 mpg.

Awesome, thanks for the help. Definitely will need to make one stop...question is which one has the better bars for the overnight stay!

I am ordering the last of my parts for spring. I have a dead battery on the starboard side bank. I have searched all the threads for recommendations but am curious what other 310 owners are running. I bought the boat three years ago and it had 3 group 27 heavy duty truck batteries installed. If we anchored for a few hours and ran the radio it would drain the battery down to the point we would need to use the emergency start. My port motor always starts easily. My question is what combination would you recommend for the
starboard side bank? Replace with two more "truck" batteries? One starting and one deep cycle? One dual purpose and one starting? Any insight would be a great help.

View attachment 29363Water Glide. It has been recommended that we should if all possible use the same CCA battery rating and size clasification. If you are using M27 series you should stick to that unless you are going the change all of them. I use the 24 group marine series @ 1000 CCA. The market now has the starting / deep cycle dual combo. Also marine batteries hold down a better charge and are build to take pounding. I have used deep cycle as house batteries since they are designed for more frequent charge / discharge applications.

I have 2 group 29 interstate battery's (deep/start) on starboard side and one group 27 cranking on port

The photo of my modifications are here: ( the fridge is caulked now)

I currently have that piece that we both removed at an upholstery guru getting it completely redone to provide more room for when I sleep. The modification is to have it have a thinner passing instead of the 3-4 inches of foam. I believe I'm having it wrapped in the same color/style as the the material directly behind it. It will only be 1" thick.

Looking for some help.... Does anyone with a 98-01 310 have a good picture of the stern on the hard showing the location of the props / underwater exhaust?

I am getting boat hauled vis forklift for the first time (usually slings) and wanted to show fork lift driver what it looks like.

Hauling her to fix a few things and then i will be placing her up for sale...

Please post pictures or send me an email

Thanks,
Mike

This is the best I have:

I'd find a new fork lift operator. Anyone asking for that clearly has no experience.

They did not ask. ... Im offering as this design is pretty unique to sea ray. Would rather be safe than sorry

Thaks for the link

My boat has small black stickers on both side indicating sling location front and rear. Look for this point which indicate correct lifting areas / points. Also this is the balance point to assure it doesn't drop from either end. If the boat doesn't have them you can refer to the owners manual which will indicate the location. Good luck hope this helps.

The sling locations are for a sling. The OP is asking about using a forklift, which is going to grab the boat from the stern, generally, on the outside of the prop/outdrives...

I understood they were using a forklift with slings. That what indicated in the communcations. If it's the forklift bottom lift, I would then recommend that it is lifted in a marina which has the special lift unit and the clear understanding for this. The exhaust is a concern.
