Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

skyview,

Mine stopped a couple of seasons ago. It's behind the microwave. There are several screws under the counter for the microwave and the cabinet trim piece. Not real difficult to remove the microwave. You will then see the vent motor. As I recall, I had to feel around for the screws. I had a friend tell me to make sure the vent fan is free to spin BEFORE assuming the motor is bad. I cleaned this rotor of dirt and dust and spun it with my finger. Then I turned on the blower, sure enough, it was just a stuck fan. Been two years now and no problems. I just turn it on every so often to keep it loose. Hope this helps.

Has anyone replaced the wiper arms and blades on their 98-02 310? I was thinking of just taking them off and painting them, but figured I would ask if anyone found a good replacement arm and blade that fits.

I just bought blades last Sat. for mine. The were a Amco blade. I just changed the small bracket on top of the old blade to the new blade. The new ones actually had the bracket but, I would have needed to drill a hole for the mounting bolt.
I bought these at my local parts store. I believe the cost for the blades was $10.50.
If needed I saved the packages and put my old ones away. Let me know and I will get you the part number.
Bob

Part number PLEASE!!! I've been looking for these things!

The 1st picture is the old blade with the new bracket on it. I used the old brackets to save drilling a hole in it. Just showing the blade for reference.

Guys and gals forgive but I am weird like this and I have a question that might question my sanity, or not.

Here goes. As you all can see from my profile I own a 18'6" bow rider as well as my 310DA. I am planning a long trip and was considering tendering my 18 footer to my 310 DA to have a run-about. Have any of you towed an 1800 lbs boat with your similarly equipped 310? Can it be done? Is it safe?

I have seen this done and my buddy has a 38' Trojan with 400+hp Detroit D's and he pulls an 18' boat with no issues. Please don't lough, but a bad question is the one you never ask.

How long is a long trip?
I am sure it can be done safely if you do not mind a very slow ride and buying many extra gals at the pump.

Thanks Davefin! I'll check the fan next time I'm at the boat. This forum is the best!

Looking at a three hour trip to the Florida Keys. When you say slow ride you mean my boat wont plain? Have you tried it? I am aware the fuel cosumption will be taxed. I am more concerned about being able to cruise at my normal 20 - 23 knots. I don't want to turn a three hour trip into a six. Then taking a tender makes no sense.

I know a few of you have done this job so perhaps you can help me. I have a bad Starboard wiper motor. I know I can access the motor through the recessed light fixture. Today I went and tried and that fixture will not come off. Is there a trick? I don't want to force it and have the headliner damaged.

I tow a 13 footer to the close by islands the trip is about 1 hr 15 mins with the tow it's about an additional hour since I have to reduce the speed to about 15 /17 mph. I use 100ft of tow line anything shorter creates additional drag lowering my speed. I would recommend having someone drive the 18 footer behind your boat you'll save fuel and have less of a hassel. The issue is that's alot of weight it's like pulling another boat, for the distance and time of travel and if by chance you run into bad weather it changes the way your boat and the tow will respone. I really enjoy taking the 13 footer along since am able to move around the area without moving the mainship. I hope this is helpful.
Note! I would also try towing it a short distance before hand to see how it handles if you finally decide to actually tow.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I guess an 18 footer is beyond the scope for my 310.

there were a few posts earlier in this thread how to do that .. i think I replied to it.. Found it:
copied to here:

The head liner must come out to replace it. Feel for screws along the edge maybe about 3/4 - 1 inch from the edge and make a "fabric grabber" (long thin piece of metal with a hook at the end) to pull the headliner out of the joint in front of the screws. (I did the starboard side without incident) and unscrew the screw to lower the headliner piece. Searay will fax you over a schematic of where the screws are in this boat.

I think there are a total of 3 - 4 screws that hold it in. I used a metal expansion port cover from a desktop computer back and curved the end over to form a thin hook. Hope that describes it good enough.

I also think I had to loosen the valance by the little port lights... shrug ... Don't forget to adjust the arm travel before you put it back together.

Thanks!!! Yah I read this post, but there was another were a fellow did it through the Light. I did notice his profile depicted a Fourwinns, but he was here in CSR. The light is right below the wiper motor I just cant remove the housing for the light. All screws are out and the thing won't budge.

I had never been on a '98-'02 310DA until my new dock mate invited us to get to know he and his wife on his '99 310DA last night. What a great cockpit. When they stopped the 310DA in '02 for the 300DA that I have, I wish they had kept the extra 9 inches in beam that they chopped off. You all have a good boat.

Thanks Bill!

If you ever in South Florida your welcome to ride with us.

Hi Skyview Hope all is well. Looking at your platform, it really good great. What material or system was used or is this a rug? I have the same 2000 model and with time the platform has become slippery and I really would not like to apply paint or these anti slip strips.
