Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

i think your on the money here.

those b 3's grab a lot of water; thats the idea. both of them going bad at the same time isn't likely

also the b 3 doesn't use bushings. there are 2 nuts per drive to hold the props on and thats it. they spline up, metal to metal, on the out put shafts

i to think your looking for drag or performance issues

Performance would likely not be both engines and drives, they perform the same. When getting on plane, if I move one throttle slightly more than the other it will blow out that outdrive. I am only talking a slight throttle position differance, like a little accidental twist of my hand. I've done all the mechanical tests and been in contact with Signature Propellers and Mercruiser and they figuerd the same slippage and recommend 20P props and say it is not uncommon to have the wrong prop from manufacturer. I was just wondering if I am the only one with 22P's on a 310 that has changed them. Thanks for the input guys.

I understood these were outdrives not inboards.

22P for out drives is pretty large of a size. Many times boater will use a larger diameter for easier planning but you losse top speed. What is the pitch? My inboards 16 X 15 again there inboard. Also are they SS?

Ok does anyone have there 31 or 32 footer on a trailer? I want to purchase a trailer for my 31 SR fully inboard. The intent is for general maintenance and for hurrican season. If some one has recommendations or dimensions which I can use as guide it will surely be helpful. The boat is 12,000 dry weight based on specifications. 11. 5 beam.

My Norcold fridge has died. I have been searching everything I can find to help me make my replacement decision. I have not seen any posts from 310 DA owner's on their experience with replacing their refrigerator. Will the replacement Norcold de-751 fit through the sliding door without taking the door apart? Should I just change out the cooling unit? I don't plan on using the fridge on 12V very often so power consumption is not a big deal. I would like to hear opinions on how you would proceed.

Closing on our new to us 2002 310 Sundancer tomorrow. Very excited. Does anyone know where I can get the extended aft bimini that I see in some pictures. Is this OEM or custom made?

Boat went in the water today!!

Two questions:
1. I really want to replace the sink faucet in the head but this is the one that is for the sink and shower. I find it just sticks out too far to work well in the sink. Anyone have any suggestions for a replacement?

2. Last year our starboard side windshield wiper stopped working. It seems that to get to the motor, you have to take apart a whole bunch of the header in the cabin. Anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks.
Craig

From reading other posts, I understand you can get to it from the inside by means of one of the lights holes. Just remove the cabin light right under the wiper and you have access. Limited, but access.

I would also like to change that faucet in the head. Looking forward to answers for that. I just replaced the ridiculous sprayer/faucet in the cockpit sink with a nice coventional faucet recommended here, what a difference!

The existing tab is 12x18 looks like the largest tab we can install would be 30" which would go from the existing outboard side of the existing tab to the pocket beginning. Can we re-use the actuator, move it, or or do we have to install a new one?

Warning to all:

I just found out why Searay uses such small trim tabs on the 310's..... THE TRANSOM IS NOT FLAT!!!!!!!!!! I went to install the 30" tabs yesterday and now I have to manufacture a "wedge" to fill the gap by the prop tunnel. Sheesh nothing goes easy on these boats...

Ok So after a few minutes thinking and a miter saw... a few pieces of PVC trim board from my home remodel glued together here's what I did: You can definitely see the angle of our transoms in this pict...

Is that actuator big enough to work with those larger trim tabs????

View attachment 19269Boat to small. This is a great job and the pictures are excellent. I am really thinking on the doing the same to my SR31. The other option was going to four blades but I think this should do the job nicely. You mentioned Bennett, did you purchase the tabs with them or did you manufacture them yourself. Also I see you had to relocate the piston was this pretty simple? Two last questions; If purchased with Bennett, can you provide part number and cost and can you update us on the results of your upgrade.

BTS. Once again, great job on this and thanks for posting it for our benefit.

Thanks, I purchased the tabs from Bennett. I they are the 3012 (30 inches by 12") The tab actuators were actually pretty simple to move. Just getting back into the bilge to that area to cut the clips that hold the tubing was the most difficult part of the job. The holes I just mixed up some fiberglass matte with resin and shoved it into the holes.. let dry, sanded and bottom painted a few inches higher to cover. You would never know that they have been changed. The boat will be going into the water on Thursday. As soon as I can get it out into open water I'll post results. Regarding cost, I really cannot remember exactly how much they were about 375 maybe?... The four blades are my next option, however I believe these boats to be over-propped.

hi guys; i had tacked this on to another thread and got part of the answer i was looking for.

that being the raytheon unit that came in our 310 is pretty much out dated. i never took the time to learn to use it. the garmin hand held units we have do just fine for the lakes we boat on.

wonder if any 310 owners have up graded their unit, the cost, and were you able use or change existing hole in the dash to maintain a factory looking installation? also what do you do with the gps antenna in the spoiler? remove and plug hole, use new one or adapt, or leave.

this is the one i would replace. looking for something simple to operate. mostly only want speed. odometer, anchor warning and way tracks ect. M O B. features we have in the hand held, but permanent mounted with a larger screen. and did i say simple to operate.

thanks garry

I am not sure about the dimensions of that unit but I would recommend the Garmin 5208 or you could get the 740, which is a smaller version.
