Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Last run of the year here on Tonka.

Little chop, completely empty except for me, 1/4 tanks, and 3/4 full water. Hit 43 briefly, but didn't have the camera out for that.

Not bad for the small engines :)

For the TV location.... I have a 1998 310 which has a slightly different layout than 99-02, but cabinet is pretty much the same....

- I went to Best Buy and picked up a 22" LED by Insigna for around $225 and 2 year ext warranty for $40.
- Ordered a swivel arm mount so you can see from cabin (2nd pic), or rotate out and view from v-berth (3rd pic)
- My son had upgraded to a XBOX 360 so I took old Xbox which doubles as a DVD player.....
(( Pics taken with blackberry so quality not the best ))
1 st picture: trial fit (only in primer white)
Other pics: final product used a gloss spray paint and color came pretty close.. Ignore the wires... Instllalled a AC outlet in cabinet and those are all cleaned up...

I have the same boat as yourself. Mine is about a 19" with a built in DVD player. There is a wall mount bracket attached to the original cabinet door so the TV swings out of the way to access the little cabinet/closet. Does not seem to be an issue with the door hinge holding the weight as it is usually closed.

I like the way you have done yours as well.

Have 19" T.V. Cabinet not an issue....

At first I had just the arm mounted to where the original door was. The blank space at top and bottom drove me crazy and still needed a shelf for xbox, controllers and DVDs. I did lose some Space with the cabinet, but that was dead space in the bottom of the locker so I just had junk accumulated in there... ((((I did find that under cushions in the aft cabin (where fresh water tank is) there is a huge area that I have put a 18" x 18" x 22" rubbermaid tote in and keep infrequently used stuff there . Tub is there as I found this space as a result of switch on sump going bad, which resulted in about 4" of water in this bilge by time I discovered it...))))))

I was wondering what the owners of 310's with Bravo 3 outdrives are running for props? I have a '99 310 with 260hp 350's and 22p, 3 blade props but can't get over 4000 rpms. I know there are condition and engine perfomance issues to consider and I have done that, everything seems fine and running with 4 poeple, 1/4 tank of gas and 1/2 full tanks, I still can't pull 4600-4800 rpm's out of it. I was considering a prop change to 4 blades anyway, however I don't want to guess at the pitch. Any input? Thanks.

i run 28's with 2.2:1 gears and can just barely touch the rev limiter at about 1200 feet elevation.

Are you talking about the area in the aft cabin under the cushion on the port side? Or did you cut something?

We just bought a "98 310 DA. I found about 4 inches of water in the compartment under the after bed also. I assumed the water was from condensation from the boat sitting. The only bilge pump I saw in the compartment was under the bathroom and in its own enclosure for the shower and sink, which operates normally when the sink is used. Where is the switch you replace in this area of you boat?

Can you tell me where the forward bilge pump is located on your boat?

:smt100There is no forward pump. Now the closed compartment that you found should have an automatic switch unit. This tank also pickup the water from the A/C unit. If it get's stuck or the line gets clogged for some reason or it has algae which forms from the condensed A/C water the closed compartment will overflow from a side openning found on the tank sending the water to the lower areas. I hope this is helpful.

what vida says, and will add; 4" is more than would collect from condensation.

our 310 uses a different configuration than your "98". how ever the fresh water tank is located under the rear birth. not sure where it is on the "98" but might be something to consider

Sorry have been out for a while...... The compartment I was referring to is under the shower. It's for the shower, sink and ac condensate. Access is from cushions in aft cabin Root cause was the switch being bad and new switches need a little modification to one of the plastic legs to fit properly (minor issue took 30 seconds to snip off ). Reaching back in there was a pain in the back... Helps to have a 8 year old who is mechanically inclined and can loosen screws, etc... There is no on off switch for this pump, so it cannot be manually cycled.

I hope you find the water problem. On another note.

My 310DA doesn't have a fuel cross over to transfer fuel from one tank to the other. The gen set only draws fuel from one tank thus making my travel distance (long runs)based on that tank- when really having much more fuel available. Has anyone made modification to acheive this? I know that larger boats and newer models have this option. :smt100

Anybody have added an autopilot on a 310 2001? I have been thinking about adding one next year. Brand? model? cost? Is this a DIY project?

We thought about it but thats all we did...i'm still thinking...

Why is it that a 2000 310 V drive has this prop number???

16 R 15

and a 2002 310 V drive has this prop number...???

17 R 20

previous owner of my 2002 upgraded to bigger props?? or that was sea rays idea????

My 2000 310DA is equipped with 16 X 15 three blade with 350 MPI's 300 hp. Does you 2002 model have the same engines? Engines do make a difference. I have tryed to get information about changing my props to four blades to get better mileage and better out of the hole power but still don't know if I should increase diameter or pitch. Would be interested to know if your engines are the same or larger since this could be an option the 17 X 20 would have much more surface area and should dig in much better that the 16 X 15 prop. Interesting.....

OK....My 2 engines are 350 horizon MPI 300 HP each...V drives

My survey from 2009 says i have 17 x 18 x 3 props

My actual picture of the prop says 17 R 20 as picture the shows..

Correction on the the 16 x 15 props, there on V drives

NOT I/Os.....

The tranny ratio is also very important here. Searay was not consistent in the ratios that were installed in and around 2001 model 310s.
