Nuteak Flooring On A 340

Great pictures!!! I have been looking into these products for a while. Did you have snap in carpet prior? If so...did you remove the snaps and fill them? Thanks for any insight.

Looks fantastic. I love my Flexiteek and wish I would have done the entire cockpit like you did.

Very nice!

That is fantastic looking! Is it a plastic type floor? Tough, UV resistant, etc? Looks like a great improvement.

That is some nice and professional upgrade! Enjoy it.

Per Nuteak.com

Nuteak synthetic decking is a superb alternative to teak decking that can be applied to almost any surface including fiberglass, steel and wood. Nuteak is impressively non-slip even when wet. Decking material comes with white or black caulking and three different plank sizes.

APPEARANCE:
Color fast pigmenting and "graining" give Nuteak an authentic look. Combine this with the fact that each strip actually includes its own caulking edge and tongue and groove ends, the end result will look like something laid by a traditional craftsman.

DURABILITY:
Since Nuteak flexible is non-porous water, oil, and dirt does not penetrate the material, it requires no oiling, varnishing, sanding or scraping. Cleaning is simple just use soap and water. Unlike teak it also can be pressure washed.

LIFE:
Since the material is UV stabilized and is colored throughout its thickness it will retain its classic appearance for many years.

I am glad yours is done; Patrick is supposed to be doing mine tomorrow. At least that was his plan, hopefully that has not changed. I am just doing the swim platform and the head floor… for now anyway. I just put new carpet in the cockpit several months ago; the Admiral will kill me if I told her I wanted to teak that now. Yours looks great! I am having a special touch added to our swim platform so we shall see how it turns out, hopefully with some pictures next week.

How hot is it in the sun and what is the additional weight?

Nuteak and Flexiteek are basically the same product so I can answer from 2 years experience.

Heat is bearable. It does get hot but it's proportionate to the outside conditions. If it's 95 and bright sun it, it will be hot. But then so will the other non-white surfaces in your boat. If it's pleasant 80 degrees and bright sun, it will be pleasant to walk on....warm but pleasant.

Weight is a non-factor. It's very light.

How is it to clean around the flooring? We tend to have quite a few weeks with guests and kids. I need to always pull up the carpet to scrub and clean the floor edges from food and spilled drinks. Maybe I should wait until the kids are gone:grin:.

I don't have enough experience with it yet but from what I was told you can hose it off and/or use Simple Green to clean it.

Great looking installation. Really adds a dimension to the look.

I had NuTeak installed in the spring as well and love the stuff. You can hose it down and clean with a brush and cleaners like (I use All Off - local product).

Cleaning the cockpit is a lot easier with Nuteak. You just hose it down and scrub it with any mild/medium strength cleaner. It air dries in less than 20 minutes, 5 minutes in the sun.
