Nothing to do with boats - deer

IMG_0810.jpeg

Yesterday morning

I had a 6 point in my back yard yesterday morning around 8:30. He was just sniffing around and then decided to use two of my young arbrovites as a rub. Dumb buck. Anyway after that he just kept wandering into the next door neighbors yards.

The deer around here are complete fearless when it comes to people. I could walk out in my back yard and bag my limit with a knife, or at worst my .45.

My oldest son lives in Kansas City. About this time last year he was driving home from work in his pickup when an 8 point buck came over the guard rail and into his path. He never even had a chance to hit his brakes. Killed the deer and seriously f'd up his truck that was less than a year old. After about 6 months of trying to get it right the dealer gave him what I paid for it new as a trade-in credit on a new truck.

Man that’s a lotta trees!
Can you spot the little doe in this photo?

I guess the deer are down this year because of the record snow we had last year. I called it quits yesterday at 11am. No venison for us this year, however someone always has it when we ice fish or snowmobile.

Fox are great at getting rid of mice.
The neighbors cats have all but eradicated the mouse and chipmunk population and for that reason I don't mind discovering the occasional cat 'duce' in the flower bed. But if the fox wants to help, the more the merrier and if he can do it without crapping in the flower beds all the better!
