Not a Quacker anymore!!!

Doesn't interfere at all with the anchor locker. Reason I put it there, easy access and a snap to install. I always have run with my spot light in that position. Doesn't everyone?

Anyway, good easy install and they actually sound like a friggin horn!!!!

Got these through MarineMax.

Did you use the original horn's wiring for the power supply and switch, or did you have to snake another line up there? I'm assuming that since you said it was an easy install, that you were able to use the existing wiring. On my previous 320, we had the infamous duck horn also, but I lucked out on my 340 and have one that sounds normal, if not a little on the wimpy side. (at least it does not quack) But had often thought of putting real horns on the boat, just wasn't sure where to put them. Thanks for sharing with us.

Was very easy to use the existing wiring and connectors. Another plus for the location. Just as an FYI. In the event I decide to remove them, I won't have to worry about cosmetics as I can always purchase a new anchor locker hatch!

Thanks, tawcat, that's what I have been thinking of doing, but not ready to actually drill holes. Care to mention brand, model and source?

Without sound this thread is useless (Grin)

I used to run with my spotlight like that.......until I realized two things. 1. At night, if I should ever need it quickly, it won't be there. Plus I just blinded myself while positioning it forward. And B. Someone here pointed out to me that the servos are not being stressed when the light is in the forward/tilted down position, which will aid in the spotlight lasting longer, and better reliability. Now I can't speak to the accuracy of B. But I think that there is no rationalizing away point number 1.
I'm curious about that. I thought the automatic ones restart to facing aft when turning them off. I have mine facing aft as do most other boats at our marina. Now time to do research.

The dealer told me to keep it facing aft when not in use, I think the reason was to protect the lens.

you got another hobby also I see.

If they don't listen to your horn, you shoot them

The main problem with it facing aft is that you have to activate it to turn it, and it destroys your night vision for 15 to 30 minutes or more.
Better you than me. That's why I leave it facing aft. I don't want to blind someone accidently by me forgetting to turn the thing around before using it first. Jeez...next thing I know you'll be telling me it's good to prime my AC by simply running my boat?

Sorry about the thread hi-jack Tawcat. Maybe we should start a new thread on spotlights. What do you think Scott??? Anyway, any air horn is much, much, better than that crap SR has been putting on their Sport cruisers for the last couple of years. The only thing is that I do remember is a very smart CSR person warning against placing the airhorns on the bow. Something about water intrusion. (maybe that's why you should keep your spotlight facing aft :) Anyway, I hope everthing works out for you. Now you can actually blow your own horn and not be embarrased. Sincerely, Brian (leader of the peoples movement against crappy SR horns...Quack...Quack)

The solution to me was obvious: Leave it facing aft. Then, at dusk, before sunset, I rotate it forward. I rotate it back stern either when I get to the dock. . .or the next morning before I head out.

Getting back to the subject at hand! You obviously needed a compresser somewhere, or am I wrong? Where did you place it? Was the wiring just a matter of disconnecting the "f" horn or what? Help me out, I am a member of "shooting the duck horn" for good!

Can you give more details on how you made the electrical connections?
1) Is it hard to get at the harness for the original horn?
2) Do you know what the amperage draw is on your new horn and how it compares to the old horn (wondering if it needs a larger fuse or circuit breaker).
3) Any photos of the wiring?

Thanks!
