Wondering if any one has this problem? unless the fan speed on the a/c is on high the fan is very noisy almost sounds like something is rubbing, (but on the highest speed the sound goes away. Is this normal? thanks!

Same - We talked about it in this forum a couple of weeks ago. It gets a little better with time.

noisy a/c

thanks John. I'll look for the other discussion. Do you remember the subject title?

I think this is the posting that Hampton is referring too, you will have to read down to get to the part about the noise. You can use the search feature there is also a posting about there being a noise on a 260 DA being the water pump for the AC in the bilge. The noise they describe however is the sound of running water, not a loud noise but one you notice while sleeping.

Good luck!!!

I notice the same thing when I just run the fan only. On low it is pretty quiet - same on high speed. The sound I hear isn't a rubbing noise. I'm no electrician, but since this is a variable speed system, I'm wondering if the noise is induced by the variable frequency drive on the air conditioning unit. As the frequency changes for a different motor speed, it causes the electric motor to emit a different sound.
