My Clarion XMD3 unit plays in the cabin of my 2004 Sea Ray Sundancer, but only faint sound comes through the cockpit speakers. I have tried the fader function, etc but cannot make it work. Any suggestions?

Do you have the rocker switches in the cabin to select Cabin / Cockpit? Also try the balance feature on the XMD3 too. Good luck:thumbsup:

You may need to turn on the cockpit speakers using the T button I believe. I have directions but not on boat, basically like setting the front/back speakers on a car balance/fade. Manual may have instructions

1. Press and hold the "T" button for 1 second or longer
2. Use right arrow button to select "SW LPF"
3. Use down arrow button to select "REAR" (you don't want any of the 3 "LPF" settings)
4. Press the "T" button to back out of all this

If this doesn't do it, cockpit amp may be the issue.

Exactly what I was referring to Bill.

This fixed my problem same radio same year of boat. It worked for me.

Your radio if it is a XMD3 model, has a setting that needs to be turned on to send power to the amp speakers for the cockpit. On page 14 of the manual it refers to setting the low pass filter. Factory setting is 120. That's where your problem is, cycle thru the options to "REAR" and your amp will now get the signal it needs.

Here's a link to the manual if you don't have it with the boat.

have you tried turning on the amp? without it on you'll only get sound in the cabin and maybe some faint sounds in the cockpit out of one of the speakers
