Cranked the genny up today to run the micowave and no power. Tried to flip on the Air and nothing. The genny runs fine but does not put out any power. It is registering voltage on the meters. Any idea's before I call a mechanic in the morning? Thanks Jim

There was a similar thread ,although not exactly the same as yours, that I read today. Something about a HUGE capacitor around the electrical box on the Genny. It fixed the other posters problem. Check out this thread:

Hope it helps. Todd

Jim: My problem was not the same as yours. On mine, the engine would start, but, not continue to run after the start switch was released. It sounds like you have a problem with the main circuit breaker since you are reading an output on the meters. I don't even know who to call on Allatoona for repairs. I had a number for a Dan Fraiser, but, it was no good.

Does any of your AC powered systems work from the Genie or is it limited to the Microwave and ac units?

Basics....
Genie on: check
Genie Breaker on: check
"Both" Panel Transfer Switches switched to Genie: check
"Both" Panel AC meters show proper ac voltage: check
Panel breaker for ac pump and ac compressor on: check
Panel breaker for Microwave on:check
etc,etc,.....

Do all these systems work from Shore power?

Breaker looks to be ok, and is on. Nothing works. All breakers are on at the panel. Everything worked ok last weekend!

I had a similar problem last weekend. I found that I had accidently flipped the on/off switch on the genset to off when cleaning the bilge. On my genset this switch is right under the remote start/choke switches.

You didn't say if everything is OK when on Shorepower.

The genny runs fine but does not put out any power. It is registering voltage on the meters.

Gotta be a breaker - somewhere. The meters don't lie - which meters show voltage? The genny panel or the shorepower panel or both?

Everything is OK on shore power. I just spoke to a mechanic he said the voltage regulator on the gennie is a common problem. Has to call back around lunch. Hopefully he can get out there today. Both panels show voltage.

Just a note to anyone who has or will have this same problem. Replaced the capacitor and the bridge rectifer. About an hour and half job and all is back to normal. About $100 in parts.
