Mercruiser 351 stern drive...pre-alpha?
Hello all...great forum site you have here. I just purchased my first boat, a 1975 SRV 240 Sundowner HT. Other than the old points giving me fits, overall the boat is in great shape for a 75. It has the Mercruiser 351, 233 inboard and stern drive. I have the service manual (lucky that it came with the boat) but do not have the boats owners manual that explains how to set the dinette table and seating into a bunk. Anyone have any ideas on that?

Go to the SeaRay site and look up your model for the owner's manual. Otherwise, there is a link there to send them a message. They are really great at getting back to you and may surprise your with their ability to answer the question.

Welcome Aboard!

You mention points, uhg :smt013 - the first thing I ditched when our boat was purchased. I replaced them with Pertronix Ignitors, a simple plate that drops in the distributor with electronic ignition. Improvements were great from a smooth idle to WOT, best $100 per motor ever spent. I probably saved that in fuel alone the first season using them. Something you may want to look into if you have not already.

As far as the table issue - I see that Sea Ray does not have catalogs or manuals available for 1975. I'll dig up all the sales brochures from my Dad and see if they show anything that may help. If there is I'll post it for you.

Dito KC the Pertronix Ignitors its the pest 100$ and 20 minutes you will spend on your motor!!!!!!!!!!!! Just dont hook it up with the wrong polarity or it will be the best $200 you will spend on your motor..............

Ouch - that would ruin your day.

Welcome!

Is it a Sundowner or Sundancer?

usually the table just sets on rails on the front of the dinette seats and the cushions slide in to the center and the back cushions go down to the ends to fill the gap.

Thanks KC
I did alot of digging myself trying to find missing sections of my service manual and found that Sea Ray seems to have lost it's records for the years 73-76. I'm sure I can figure it out but have not had the time really fussing with the points, etc.....BTW...I actually ordered the petronix unit last week and am just waiting, itching to get that switched over, so I can enjoy boating as opposed to just sitting and being frustrated.

It is a Sundowner KRB64....looking for the very top portion of the camper canvas as well if anyone knows a good source for that or has one for sale.

MoparLvr....(nice handle btw)....that is what I thought as well but my table top seems a little narrow, might have been replaced for all I know. I'm headed to the boat this weekend and will fuss with it some more. Thanks for the response.

On my 210 Seville mid cabin the table was narrow but there were two teak boards that bridged the gap between the benches, Table sat on top of them and then the filler cushions.

LK....seems to me (off recollection) that I do recall seeing the boards you speak of, but the table still seemed to narrow to set on them either. Might just have to make me a new one....I'll know more tomorrow. Thanks for the reply!

Looking up the "Sundowner" in the archives, it looks like a Sundancer from the outside but has the layout of a Weekender?

Is the dinette table in the cabin or up on rear deck?
