Back in 2006 I almost bought a 30' Weekender Express. I talked myself out of it & bought a 24'Wellcraft instead. I have been kicking myself ever since & the wife (hereafter referred to as SWMBO) refused to ride on the Wellcraft. The Wellcraft was a great little boat but did ride a little rough on those less then perfect days (which seemed to be the only days I ever get to fish).
'Bout a month ago I was looking through the classifieds & found a '79 Searay Express just like the previous one I had looked at ,only nicer & equipped with a tower & outriggers to boot. Did I mention I am an avid offshore fisherman? I immediately put the Wellcraft up for sale & Wednesday I closed the deal on the new to me SeaRay. New engines, Tuna Tower, New AC/Heat, remodeled inside (somewhat anyways, it has a private V-berth forward with a closing door, new guages, flowmeters, fresh bottom, no blisters:smt038 & all new galley appliances.
The previous owner had a new Albie & he wanted to unload her as bad as I wanted her so we are both happy. I spent the weekend moving my gear aboard & adding some electronics, Garmin GPS & ICOM DSS radio to compliment the radar, gps, fishfinder/sonar, 2 vhf radios & loran she already had. Then to top it off I managed to get a slip in Va. Beach less then 15 minutes from the CBBT for $112 a month! To say I'm jazzed would be an understatement, but reality set in when I visited the fuel docks & filled her up with fuel! That Wellcraft had a 290 mile range on 110 gallons of fuel. This rascal has a bit less range but I quit filling at 200 gallons & I hadn't got to the aux tanks yet!
Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself & I'm sure I will have tons of questions in the coming months as I get to know 'Fintastic' so thanks in advance for any advice & help y'all may give me.
