After cooling down about the unfortunate event , I am ready to ask for some advise. I bought my sundeck last year and at the same time purchased a new trailer to go with it. It seems that the roller in the front of the trailer is very soft and the boat smashes it ( it was this way when I picked it up from the dealer , after they loaded it up on the trailer for pickup) . Here's the bad part the trailer builder square cut metal support for the roller. The roller smashes enough that the support metal has gouged my bow.

So do I load up the trailer and take a 2 hour drive to the builder and rant and rave? Or take the hit , fix the trailer support and gel coat my self?

Can there be a bow stop made for it instead of the roller? I included pic
Thanks

I surprised at how close the bracket is to the surface level of the roller. That has to have been a fabrication flaw. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the trailer manufacturer and demand the trailer be fixed and the boat repaired to original condition.

I wold be livid, take it back and make them fix both the trailer and the boat. it's obvious bad engineering. perhaps they will learn and you just helped out the next guy.

Yes livid is one way to describe how I felt. I wanted to cool down before I spoke with the builder.

Go bak and raise hell, that is not acceptable and they need to fix both.

I'm surprised by how close the metal is to the roller surface and by how much that outside roller stop is deflecting. Seems something is certainly not right here.

I would go back to the trailer mfg but I would not raise hell. Show them what happened, tell them you think there are SOME design flaws with this trailer and tell them that you expect them to fix the trailer and the boat.

If you yell and scream you'll make little headway. Approach them in a calm, but firm manner and I believe you will get more cooperation from them.

Well gonna a find a day to haul it down to the builder. Just wanted another opinion. Thanks .

I can't really tell the angle by the pictures but the bow roller bracket looks more vertical than horizontal. It should be at most 45 degrees to the trailer frame. There's alot of pressure on that roller for it to deflect like that. A black rubber roller would have ripped and fell off. I thought the yellow and blue composition rollers and snubbers were supposed to be alot tougher. I've never seen a yellow roller deflect like that. Looks like winch stand should have been taller and roller bracket should have been more horizontal to trailer frame. Do you drive onto bunks and winch up to the bow stand or drive all the way up?

Did you buy that trailer from a SeaRay dealer? That is just wrong, I would definitely take it back where you bought it. The good news is the gel coat can be repaired and you will never know it, but it's hard to look at it now.

I have a friend with a 280 tiara that had a trailer built for him ,it didnt fit correctly and scuffed his boat first time on and the bow roller wasnt in the correct place either. The company came from montana or somewhere like that, picked up the trailer took it back ,built him a new trailer and returned it to his marina with upgraded axles and nice custom rims with larger tires at no charge. His boat wasnt damaged enough to need repairs.I would be nice to them and they will probably be nice right back.

I drive on. I'm sure it would of happened either way considering the one gouge happened when unloading. The yellow roller is soft. I can flex it by hand. Think they could build a stop bunk for it, being how the sundeck has a rounded bow right there?

It's good to here that there are people that still take care of their customers.
