New to the Westerbeke diesel generator - is this as loud as it should be?

I would go with a shock treatment of BioBor, an 80 oz of Clear Diesel in the fuel you have in the tanks now, then run the tanks down to 1/4 or 1/8 tank. That would kill anything in the tanks and help clear them out.

Then refill and use standard cocktail.

Thing will be like new!

Hey Mark - recommend getting a new oil pressure sender and Oil Pressure switch especially the switch.
The injector pump will probably act a bit funky because of the water in it so a couple of oil changes over a couple of hours run time will help.

I confirmed today with Blackstone Labs they do offer bacteria/algae testing on diesel fuel. It's about the same costs as a shock plus replacing 2-3 sets of filters. I plan to do both for piece of mind.

I plan to add all the additives tomorrow to start the shock on my fuel tanks. Both tanks are half full. Do I need to fill them up to do the shock? Or can I adjust the additives accordingly based on a half tank?

Added all the additives to shock the tanks. Filled both up, about 170 gallons total. Went for an hour cruise. Boat ran flawlessly, hit wide open throttle for the first time in a while. I don't know if it was painting the bottom or replacing the Racors or both but she's running well. Hit 2800 RPMs on WOT at almost 30 mph. Generator literally started the first time after 10 seconds that's a first.

10 days & $4500 later. It's purring like a kitten...

Changed the two racor mains today, this is about 3 to 4 hours on the current shock treatment, thoughts? This is about what they looked like when I changed them before the shock treatment.

I decided to try the shock treatment first and never did it. I emailed them as well with some questions. I can't recall the answer, but something they said suggested they weren't going to be able to help me like I thought initially.

The parts place I contacted is asking me if it's 12 VDC or 24 VDC. How can I check this, ideally not being on the boat so I can order the part ahead of time, and take it with me next time I go to the boat.

I think it's 12, if it was Amazon I'd order both and return 1 ;-) but it's not.

No worries, I don't expect you to offer more :) I will go with 12

I actually cannot find "Glow Plug Relay" anywhere. I do see this:

"PREHEAT: The PREHEAT toggle switch serves two purposes: preheating the engine for easy starting and bypassing the engine oil pressure switch. The PREHEAT function closes the k2 relay as well as supplies current to the fuel solenoid that activates the glow plugs in the cylinder head. "

I am wondering if what I need is the k2 relay.
