Hello everyone. My name is Eric, and me and my wife just purchased an 07 185 sport. We went with the 3.0 since it is our first boat, and we wanted to keep fuel costs down. We live between springfield, and branson Missouri, and will be boating at Table rock lake. Our boat has a black gel coat and black bimini top. It also came with the upgraded stereo with the amp, and 4 speakers. I am an impulse buyer, but feel we got a good deal. We paid 18,500.00 for it. If that is not a good deal, just lie to me and say it was. Anyways, you will probably see alot of me on here when I am not on v6f150.com. I love my truck just as much as the boat. The first question I have is what procautions should we take with our 7 month old son on the lake?

Welcome to CSR searay sport. You will find alot of great people here who love talking boats. Great deal by the way  Oh and great boat!!!

Your boat is nice. I wanted yellow, but they did not have any, and I dont like to wait for things. I am happy with black though. It matches my truck. Can someone resize this imige for me?

Here is a resize.

Searay sport, love the black boat very nice! Since you asked about your 7 month old... they're actually pretty easy on the boat. Assuming all the other saftey requisites (i.e. lifejacket, moderate speed) all you need to do is keep him in his car seat when you're underway and the motion/noise/vibration will put him right to sleep. Also, at that age it's pretty easy to keep an eye on him. Just wit 'til next year!

searay sport, Welcome to the forum. We used to trailer down to Table Rock when we had the runabouts. What a great place to boat, the wife wants to retire there.

It is getting a little busy on the lake these days. But would be a great place to retire. Have to been to branson lately? They almost have all of the branson landing complete, and bass pro has a store and dock there. It is nice but crouded. So we need a car seat on the boat? How would you strap it in?

My youngest son went on his first boat ride at 2 months of age in our new (to us) '02 260DA. We put him in a 'Lil Mustang infant vest. We put the life jackets on both of our boys in the truck, before we entered the Marina grounds or got to the launch ramp. This part is non-negotiable for us. My boys are now 2 and 5 and the 5 year old swims reasonable well, but jackets go on and stay on unless the boys are in the 420's cabin, with an adult, and the cabin door is secured. All it takes is a moment, once they get mobile, and they will be over the side. Watching parents hand infants onto boats with no jacket just scares the heck out of me.

I have heard two "Child Overboard" calls on the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. It breaks your heart. The water is murky and you know that those kids are gone.

We use Water Babies waterproof SPF 45 sunscreen. Works great.

Bring plenty of swim diapers, toys, water and juice, snacks, etc. and your child will love the boat as much as you do. A clean white cloth soaked in water really keeps the littel one cool on hot days--place it between skin and the life jacket.

We did not bring a car seat on board. My wife held onto the kids (our oldest started out in our 22 inboard ski boat). My rationale was that if we flipped or holed the boat I did not want to be fighting multiple straps to get my child out. A personal call.

Having little non-swimmers aboard places a premium on you, the Captain, to practice safe boating. Take a captain's course and be intimately familiar with your boat..how to launch, operate, and retrieve it safely, and then run some what if drills...fire aboard, sinking, etc. I laid awake many nights thinking about all this stuff, and my wife and I did the right plannig and what if drills. We have had some wonderful, safe times aboard, thank God. Plan ahead, know your boat and the rules of the road, watch the weather, and take a conservative appraoch and you will be fine.

Thanks for all of the info. Hey is there a place on here under our profile we can store photos? That was you can click on someone and see all their boat pics?

That's a very nice first boat! If you want to post pictures, put them in the virtual marina, then you'll get a blue link over on the left. Anyone can click the link and see your boat.

Thanks. I got a few pics in there, but they are kinda small. I will post the larger ones on here.

Here are a few pics of the boat, and one of the family - my other god D.O.G. He is a malamute, and a little big for the photo.
The 5th pic is the day of our test drive. You can see the ice all over it.

Welcome Aboard  Great looking boat

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to getting it on the water on march 9th if the weather is nice. I cant wait. The only thing I was not happy with was the boat we looked at at the boat show had the upgraded seats with the thigh high part that raises up. I was under the impression they were standard, but when we saw our boat, it had the regular stock seats. I kinda felt like they did the whole bait and switch thing. I am not the kind of person who would raise a stink about it, so I told them it was fine. In hind sight I should have asked for the other seats to be installed. Oh well, I will get some more pics today

SeaRay Sport - hey it is up to you and how the conversation went. But if I were you and I was looking at a boat and a price and they said that was the boat I was getting and it did not have the bolster seats in it like you thought it was I would raise a stink in a nice way.

You will find that it is a bigger deal than you think once you get out there. I have the seats without the bolsters; I do not think they were an option in 06. The low profile of the windshield on this boat is not good which means in order to see you have to sit up on your knees alot (at least I do).

I would handle it in a professional manner however, don't go in demanding stuff as it will probably not get you anywhere. Next time you are out stop by the dealer. Find your salesman and ask him does he have a second. Explain how satisfied you are with the boat so far and you look forward to being a Sea Ray customer for years to come. Mention that there is only one thing that has been bothering you. Every indication you had including the boat and price of the boat at the boat show indicated your boat was going to have the bolster seats. Now if your price was different (than the boat show price) that is a different ball game. It seems to you that with the windshield having the low profile that it does you are going to have to ride all day on your knees just to enjoy your purchase. Would he mind checking with the owner/manager to see if there is anything that they could do to get this one and only negative thing about the sale out of your mind. I know Sea Ray and you guys are big on surveys and I want to honestly be able to answer Exceptional across the board. If all else fells try and meet in the middle maybe discount on seats. I would definately get them if you can; it could make a big difference. I was going to wait a little while but I am going in to see how much it would cost to swap mine out for that very reason (low windshield).

I plan on talking with the salesman to see if there is anything they can do on the seats. I could care less if they had never showed me those other seats, but now I just feel cheated. Anyways, here are the pics I took today.
