New to Sea Ray

Thanks for the info onthe platform - i do agree with what you said about drawing the line but thought i'd price it out anyway.

isitsummeryet,

Haven't been to the moot yet. last year was the first summer with the boat and spent most of the time in the southern zone, down into the river. I look to expand my range and explore the rest of the lake this year. I also hope to make a weekend trip to St. Clair at some point.

do you trailer, or are you in a marina?

I sincerely apologize for offending anyone with my reference to the word LOSER, again if I hurt anyone feeling I apologize.. No harm intended..

I know you were joking...........

The swim platform would be a nice add on.

Greg,

I am in the water near Jefferson and Shook (Velgers). get in touch with me when your in and I'll show you around. there are some shallows to watch out for on the north end.

isitsummeryet,

I'll definately do that! Thank you!

I do know about the shallows at the mouth of the Black River. I saw that last year when my son an I went to the boat show at Metro. It's funny, last year (when I got the boat) my dad dug up an old lake chart from 1969. the lake levels from 1969 were exactly the same level as last year. Looks like the 30 year cycle eveyone talks about is likely true.

Hello all, I just put down my deposit on a 1999 Sundancer 240 with the merc 305 and Alpha One. I am coming from a celebrity cuddy with a 454 so the power loss will be no fun but at least the wife will have the ammenities she wants...and a happy wife...

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has info on the '99 240 they could share or tell me what to expect on plaining, crusing speeds, and top end. Any info would be great!

thanks:smt038

We previously owned a 2000 Maxum 2400SCR with the same engine/drive. Both made by Brunswick so probably very similar. The 305 with the alpha one was enough power if just the Mrs and I were on the boat. Add more adults and you may need to send someone to the bow to get her on plane.

Very fuel efficient boat, expect to burn 8-9 GPH.

Hopefully the "coffin" aft sleeping hole does not bother you. It bugged me, which is one reason we stepped up to the 330..and we wanted more room and a genny. I do miss the 8-9 MPH though.
