Hello everyone! My name is Dom. My soon to be father-in-law just purchased a 1986 Sea Ray Monaco SRV197. This boat belonged to his former father-in-law, and he vowed that he wouldn't let it leave the family. So long story short, he picked the boat up yesterday and brought it home. For a 25 year old boat, she doesn't look too bad. The interior was all recently re-done including a completely new 5.0L Mercruiser. The exterior is in pretty good shape.

He tasked me with helping him find some odds and ends parts / accessories for the boat. So after scouring eBay and the likes of iBoats, etc... I found Club Sea Ray. I'm hoping that I can get some good insight into where to find parts, but also on enjoying the new boat. My FIL and fiance’ have always had boats, but this is all pretty new to me.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I'm off to peruse the forums, and see what I can find.

Thanks for the responses! I truly do enjoy being out on the water, so I'm excited about the boat. I have been trying to find some trim parts though, without much luck. I'm looking for the bilge blower vents. They came as black plastic and have pretty much disintegrated with age. Looking for some replacements, maybe faux-chrome? I've been trying to look up part numbers but haven't had much luck using the manual finder on Sea Ray's website.

Dom - Welcome to CSR. As for the bilge blower vents - take one with you to MM or West Marine or Wal-Mart or any store that handles boats. You should be able to find what your looking for there.
Good luck and post some pics when you get time.

Welcome Dom......:smt038

Wecome Dom - you will find CSR a great source of information.

There is already a ton of helpful information in previous posts/threads - get comfortable with the search function. Virtually everything you come across someone previsouly has asked.

Our first power boat was an '86 SR 210CC - great boat! Have fun and again, welcome aboard.

Dom, Welcome to CSR & Congrats on the new toy.

Dom, welcome to the site. Couple things to note:
1. We really like pictures. Lot's of pictures
2. Try using the search function if you have a specific question. There are many great threads on all types of repairs.
3. Be opened minded and never take us personally or seriously for that matter.

And lastly never ever ever ask how to install a portable genpac on the boat.

Welcome, and one more "don't": ask about taking a pig on a boat. :smt043. (Do a search for great laughs)

That is a great boat, I love mine. Where do you boat? MM

I am from Central Indiana, but we never owned any pigs! Mike we usually go to Lake Monroe. Both of my brothers have boats there. We also go to Lake Lemon as we have some friends with a nice little cove spot to go camping / boating. My fiance also has family on Sweet Water, which is beautiful but private.

Welcome aboard

Welcome Dom,
