My son just purchased a 1988 Sea Ray 16br open bow with a 100hp Sea Ray motor and Shoreland'r trailer. Got it all for $400. Naturally, its my job to check it out to make sure everything works and is in good condition.
The boat itself is in pretty good condition just needing the cushions redone sometime. I need to get rid of the oxidation on the blue color of the boat but don't know which product to use yet. I need to check out the bilge pump and blower if it has one.
The motor is stuck in the up position and I have been told the up and down trim/tilt solenoids have been replaced already by the previous owner who is a friend of my son's. I need to figure this little problem and will do a lot of research before tackling.
The trailer is in great condition but I think I will replace the strap on the winch and also the wiring to the tail lights since it is over 25 yrs old. Must take a good look at the tires also and check the bearings.
I need to find a good copy of the original owner's manual for the boat to explain everything about it.
I'm open to all suggestions and advice since I am new to the sport. Thanks for any help. Gary Vancouver, Wa.
