We are finally heading down to the Ozarks Thurs to install the new stereo into our 2000 460. We will be putting in a new head unit, 4-JL 770-CCX, 1 -Alpine M-500, 1-Alpine F-300, 1-JL M10IB Sub, XM marine antenna, and several other components. We are also planning on putting in some bildge flood lighting. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well!!

Are you doing it yourself? If so, good luck and that sound system will sure bump loud.

Crazy....post some pics when you get finished. We boat on Table Rock...so no too far from LOTO. How long have you had your 460DA?

Since we are on the subject of stereos, I am looking at the multi-zone MRD-70 by Poly Planer. I want the flexibility to control the cabin, the salon/cockpit adn the bridge seperately. I like what I see with the large controls and waterproof feature.

Anyone have experience with this model and its reputation?

I am installing a similar JL system on a Grady White right now. Using JL amps though. Make sure you use the right gauge wire! Nothing sounds like a JL system when done right. Get some nice fuse blocks too - http://www.boemarine.com/Products/5005/Default.aspx

As far as the MRD70 - you can control all zones separately, but each zone is only going to play what the head unit is playing. So you can't have one zone playing the fm radio while another is playing a cd. What you can do is have each zone play audio from a local device like a MP3 Player or dvd player regardless of what the main head unit is playing.

Yes. We are installing this system ourselves. We had a system "Professionally" done about a year ago and was VERY disappointed with it for what we paid. I got a quote to do this system installed for $5000 and said hell no. I was mistaken the F300 is actually a F600. But all the parts cost roughly $1500 and the labor is just my time for the weekend...definitely worth saving the $3500. We got everything roughed in last night and cranked it up. SOUNDS AWESOME...no complaints on the JL's...highly recommend them. We have had the 460 since Oct 07. I have some pics of the cutting process, but once we get it completed I will post the pics. We have ran 0 gauge wire from the batteries and using 4gauge to the amps, so they are getting plenty of power. We are throwing around the idea of putting in a fm modulator to send the signal from the top deck to the Bose stereo in the cabin.

Sounds like a fun weekend! For the FM modulator - what exactly are you trying to send/receive? Keep in mind they have very limited range and sound quality. Not sure what the top deck is but while you have things apart you may want to consider doing a direct connection if possible.

I'd have to agree with using a direct connection over the FM modulator if at all possible. A buddy of mine installed one in his Regal 4060 and ended up running the cable after about two weeks. This was in a metropolitan area though where there is plenty of interference.

Crazy...pics look good:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Do you keep your boat at your house or condo at LOTO?

I have walked some of the docks at Marine Max ...and can't believe all of the huge boats on LOTO.

Thank you...we tried taking pics of the whole process, and when all the work was complete. The only pics we didnt get was of the engine room. I installed new flood lighting down there using 4 150W Halogen flood lights and it made a REMARKABLE improvment. You can actually see what you are doing anywhere down there without the use of a flashlight. We keep our boat at the Lodge of the Four Seasons docks. There are a TON of huge boats on LOTO...If you make it to the Toad, and go to the farthest out dock...those are some very nice huge SeaRays.

This FM modulator works as advertised :

I use the Eclipse 4000 on my boat and I transmit four football fields away with good FM fidelity. I am also using the 31 Inch fm antenna as apposed to the little rubber stub they offer. Can be ordered with either antenna.

I use it to broadcast to other FM radios on boats that share the same cove.
