New Sedan Bridge

I spoke to my dealer today about the new 450 sedan bridge; I asked him how much the boat is going to cost and he told me $1,000,000... Hum.. I don't know about this one.. Meridian is coming out with new product that is bigger, more sea worthy, being produced on the same line in Florida as a sea ray at a much more competitive price. I know Sea Ray is a higher quality boat with better finishes but , again, I don't know about this one...

Just got this from Boattest, Sea Ray 450 Sedan Bridge

http://www.boattest.com/boats/boat_video.aspx?ID=2368

This boattest article incorrectly states that the previous model used v-drives. That is not correct. The 400/420/44/450DB was and is a straight drive boat.

And we all know that "real boats have straight drives".

Plus, a million dollars? Yeah right... I'll take my million and I'll buy a three year old 52DB. And an extra one for spare parts. And a BMW. And something like a 185 for skiing. And maybe a Boston Whaler for crabbing...

I just looked at the pictures..

I snapped a picture of the price for a 2009 44 Sedan Bridge. List was $820K. I think the $1Mil list price is plausible.

Being that it takes me like three years to investigate and shop for my next boat...I am a bit crazy when it comes to details. I thought I would share the photos (quality is questionable on some but you still get the point) that were sent to me in my investigation into this new boat.

A slideshow of the photos is here: http://s251.photobucket.com/albums/...ay/New 450 Sea Ray Sedan/?albumview=slideshow

The hardtop is standard issue, the retractable electric sunroof is an option. The beam and length have increased by a few inches over the existing 450 Sedan Bridge and the boat has more fuel and water capacity over the existing model. I really like the cockpit seating area with the wetbar! Specs on the Master and Second Staterooms show that they are both larger as well.

The boat with standard Zeus power and will cruise at 30-31 mph/26-27 knots - top end will be 35 to 36 mph/or 31+ knots. Zeus and bigger fuel tanks will improve range greatly.

The bridge companion seat and helm seat swivel 180 degrees to turn the bridge into a great hangout at the dock or on the hook.

I really like the look of the boat! The performance numbers and the prototype are with the QSB series - I think you can order the Quantum C series as well....can't even imagine what the performance on that boat is.

how did you get those secret covert operation photos......nice job.......congratulations on buying hull number one

My wife and I looked at a few of the new Sea Rays. We're not fans of the new ultra-modern interiors. Doesn't matter. These prices are crazy.

Interesting mix of responses. Some love it, others hate it. Not much in between.

To me, it looks like the SeaRay design team started with last year's Sunseeker plans... In other words, I don't care for it. I don't like the swooping lines along the windows. Maybe someday that style will grow on me - but it hasn't yet. Leave the euro-look in Europe.

I can honestly appreciate both the old and the new styling.

Each one appeals to me for different reasons.

That's my opinion too, it does not look "Sea Ray" enough!!

Call me traditionalist, but American boats should look American! We have had enough of euro-bulbous-unpractical-design!!

It's obvious Nancy Pelosi is now designing boats for Sea Ray...

Yea, perhaps there was someone at the design meeting that said "We must approve this design and build the boat before we can know what it looks like!"

I actually love it. It is another model that offers little interest, further validating our 420 bought at the peak of the market. If only soccer would stop to let me see our boat...
