Hey gang,
So last week I figured I probably should have a prop wrench in my arsenal, so I placed an order for one , it arrived yesterday while we were out on the lake in our new boat, on it's 5th voyage.
Anyway so this morning the wife and I were doing our routine boat cleanup, she does inside and I do outside. I thought well I have a wrench now, might out to check it. Before I got the wrench out of the package, I reached down and tried to move the tabbed washer, well it felt loose!
So I grabbed the new wrench, and boy was that prop nut loose - got it tightened up!
Anyway I am probably the only one that took a new boat out and never checked it, but I am so glad I did, could have been nasty... no idea if it was good and tight when I took delivery of the new boat and just worked loose over these five trips, or was not tightened good from the start. In hindsight, I should have got the wrench right away and that probably should have been the first thing I checked.
