Since this has turned into a car thread, I always heard the following advice:

"Never pick a fight with a man who owns a Chrysler product...because he's mad already"

Just kidding! What a great line-up of cars from the muscle car era. Barrett-Jackson gets a fortune for the occasional hemi bird that crosses the blocks.

Were you at Whidbey when you were in Oak Harbor?

You sure know us Mopar guys. Once you get a Dodge in your garage you can never get it out but Ive always heard that Chevys were for people who were afraid to go fast and Ford backwards means. Driver Returns On Foot.

Yes, the wife still rides me like a brand new bike when it comes to selling the cars and the boat. She knows that when I do sell a boat it isnt long before I have another one sitting in the same marina. I think what she hates the most is that I always start a project on a Friday and never seem to finish it till Sunday evening making it mandatory I spend the weekend on the boat instead of driving home.

Yes, I lived in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island for about 5 years. I lived off Swantown Rd. near the golf course. Beautiful place to live except the only way I could tell it was summer in Washington was that the rain was warmer.

Sheesh. Obviously Im not the sharpest tool in the shed since I cant get a picture of my boat next to my screen name let alone posting a picture of my superbird in the albums. Going to a road course race track in April to watch Mopars run. The event usually includes 4-5 winged cars. Always nice to see them in action.

I agree with you about starting out early on the water. Making the transition when you get older to boating usually doesnt work out too well. What else doesnt work is letting your wife watch "The Perfect Storm". Everytime we get into heavy seas she brings that movie up and gets nervous about how much worse its going to get before we get to the breakwater. I guess the other reason my wife hates all the cars as well is that I refuse to let her drive them. Her driving can only be explained as "re-inventing the demolition derby"

Hey Slow Ray, just realized you're in KY. What year was your Challenger? And congrats on becomeing a dad. Kids are a good excuse (once you can afford it) to upgrade both vehicles and boats!

1970, it was my second 70 and I had a 71 parts car. Not to mention the 78 and 79 power wagon, the 71 duster the list goes on and on. LOL

Thanks for the congrats also.

Josh

KRB64's brother here. I had 2 74 Dodge Challengers. Sold them maybe 10 years ago. Could not afford to keep them up and everything else at the time. Love the 70 and 71 model Challengers. Currently have a 78 Ramcharger pop top, I guess that is the only (running) mopar I have anymore. I had a 66 crew cab power wagon not too long ago.

Ah yes, the last year for the Challenger as we knew it. I have had so many Challengers in the past, some I still cry when I should have kept them. One I should have kept was a 1970 T/A Challenger (met its fate after my brothers wedding reception back in 1981) and the other was a 1970 440-6 Pak convertible Challenger. Hind sight is 20/20. As for daily drivers my wife has an SRT/8 300, and a Town and Country van.

Yeah, they are worth a small fortune now. Daily drivers here are TDI Jetta and Subaru outback wagon.

Have you seen the movie Vanishing Point?

Oh yes, such a classic B movie. Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry is another good one. I have a business associate that lives in Louiseville....are you close to that area?? I hear its not quite boat weather out that way just yet.

Yep, about an hour east of Louisville in Frankfort, bourbon capital of the world.

God bless the bourban!!! So I can assume your boating season is not happening right now lol...I talked to my business associate today and she said it was a bit on the nippy side. I had to tell her that Im need to do laundry since Im running out of shorts and T-shirts.... ; )

Winter's not over in Atlanta yet either - We're going to hit 20° here on Saturday night - again. Had 60° today - got out for a short cruise with the Admiral.

16* right now. Supposed to get up to 4" by tomorrow and tonight is supposed to dip down in the single digits, so no, not quite boating season yet. The only time I've been on a boat lately was last weekend at the Louisville Boat Show... Almost got to this week though as the river came with in a couple feet of getting over our road.

3 hours south on the Tennesee line where our boats are they are expecting up to 9"...

I liked that about how to tell it's summer in Washington by the rain gets warm!!

Most women don't see a boat or car (Heather excluded of course) for it's aesthetic value, only their "purpose" (ie transportation from point A to point B, sunbathing, etc).

What was "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry"? That sounds familiar but I don't think I've seen it.

So true but, he forgot about the two weeks of sun and heat that happen sometime in August. Although it never seems to happen on the weekends though.

I was fortune to be able to take the boat out today and run her for a bit. Im easy on her and NEVER push her over 2400 RPM's. Seas were calm and weather nice. I wish the seas were this calm during the summer.

Isnt that the truth. They used to ask "What do you call 2 days of rain in Washington?.....a weekend. And of course, "What do people in Washington say to the Pillsbury Dough Boy?"......Nice tan. I loved Oak Harbor and would have stayed if it didnt rain so much. I still remember having to wear a heavy jacket in July....not for me.!!

Will be in landing in Atlanta on February 12th then driving to Fort Benning to watch my wifes son graduate from boot camp. Looks like Im gonna have to buy a warm jacket.

Hopefully by Feb 12th we will be into the mid to high 50's in the day and high 30s at night - that's the norm for mid Feb. Benning should be a little better than that.

I leave for Oslo on Monday and I just saw it's 6° there - great.

Hit 0*F here this morning...

I apprenticed to a Scot to learn dry stone masonry. The first time we got rain some of the boys didn't show. The next day the Scotsman asked them what the h*** happened and they said they figured we were rained out. He told them back in Scotland if they only worked when it wasn't raining they'd only work one week out of the year...
