Hello, I just purchased a 89 340 Express Cruiser (my first cruiser). I have been boating my whole life and have only owned performance boats in the past. I just got out of a 99 32 Fountain. My wife is probably a little more excited about this than I am but it will be nice to be able to be comfortable when we stay on the boat, we just won't be setting any speed records!

Any way I just wanted to introduce my self.

    Welcome Aboard!
Been there, going from go-fast to cruiser that is.
Miss the speed once in awhile but found boating with friends and family is much more enjoyable and relaxing with a "practical" boat.
I grab a sled or off-road toy for the occasional speed fix now.
    Enjoy the transition!

Welcome to the Club. You have a great boat. There are a lot of old 340 owners here and lots of experience. We like pictures. Try and post some as soon as you can.

Lookie who showed up on the forum and joined the "floating condo" club! Seriously, this forum has been a wealth of knowledge for me over the past year learning the ins and outs of our boat. If you ever run into any problems, there's probably someone on here who's been through it before. Between you, your contacts, and this forum, you can probably handle anything!

Thank you for the warm welcome. This is going to be a big change for our personal boat but we are looking forward to it. Z Worthy we need to hook up this summer on the islands!

We had a lot of fun with the performance boats but this will be a good transition. I like to head up to your neck of the woods in the winter to rip on my sled. Great area! I may be UP there next week on a trip. I have a friend that has a house south of Munising about 25 miles on a little lake.

Welcome and I agree with the other. This is a great site for info and laughs. More importanly, you don't just have a good boat. You have a Sea Ray.

So I haven't been able to get this deal done yet because the surveyor is dragging his feet. I understand that it's cold out and it can be hard to crawl around a boat all bundled up but Damn! So today I'm headed over to the boat and going to go through the boat again my self. I have all the equipment needed to do the job the only difference is I'm not licensed as a surveyor. So I'm going to get everything powered up and check as much as I can. Structurally i'm not to worried since in 2009 a very well know fiberglass shop re-did the entire engine compartment along with bulk head and transom. Previous owner spent 14+K doing this. They also did not use wood when replacing everything they use all composites to ensure that the work will last a lifetime. I have all documentation and have had a lot of conversations with people about their work. So my thinking is I will check the rest of the boat out and If I feel it's Satisfactory then I will go ahead with the deal.

What do you guys think? I just don't like having this deal hanging in the balance.

Welcome to CSR. Why did it need the work?
Whatever happened to that boat to require the transom and bulkhead replacement (?) isn't a common occurrence. Was it water intrusion ? a wreck ? Fire ?
My general opinions on things like this is there are lots of boats for sale. Buyer beware
How much use has the boat had since the major work was done?
At least make sure you wait for the surveyor.
    Good luck

A compression check of the motors would be very valuable.

A current survey may be required by a lender (if a loan is involved) and/or your insurer.

Welcome aboard, nice boat. There are a lot of "go fasts" in our area and most of their owners seem to be in the same mode as everyone else; just hangin' out on the lake with friends an' family. They just get to the anchorages a lot quicker. Have fun, you'll enjoy all the extra room.
