So marina just out emailed about new high speed fuel pumps, gas and diesel at up to 60gpm. Read an article on the internet about this, and the quote I found was this: “A vessel’s ability to receive high speed fueling through its fill pipe is limited by the boat’s vent size. Air has to be capable of venting out at the same speed fuel is being pumped in.”
So, I’m assuming this is not your standard pump, and how big are the vents on my Sea Ray 320? 10gpm, 30gpm? I have 2 100 gallon tanks, and putting 60 gallons per tank takes at least 10 minutes it seems (maybe 20?), but I’m always wary of back splash and getting fuel all over the place, so I never hold it all the way down. How do these things work?
