Hey all. Just closing on a Sea Ray this week. We had a 21' Sea Ray in the past, but mostly just center consoles up until now.

We're hoping to get some quality time on the water with our teenage sons (13 and 16) before they are off to college.

I've thumbed around this site for the last couple of weeks. I've seen lots of great projects, stories, and trips. I hope that I'll be able to contribute on some level.

Dave

Dave, welcome aboard. That's a nice jump from 21'. Where will you be keeping your boat?

Alex.

Welcome to CSR!!! Thanks for putting your information in your signature. Again, welcome to the club.

Wesley

Welcome Dave. There is a beautiful 500DA at the end of our dock at MM Brick. All I can say is WOW! Good luck and have a great Summer. Take care, Brian

Very nice. Should be fun. Where on the Jersey shore? There's something like 100 miles of it.

Best regards,
Frank C

All,
The boat I'm closing on tomorrow is at Brick Marinemax on the Manasquan River. Thanks for all the kind words.

Yes, it is a big jump. But, I drove ships for a number of years in the Navy and sailed some big boats over the years.

Brian,
The blue-hulled boat on the T at the end of F dock is going to be moving and we're putting ours there for the summer. Hope to meet you on the docks.

Dave

Welcome aboard:thumbsup: Nice looking boat. I have to you ask do you drive ships or pilot them:huh::smt100

Chuck,
As a young enlisted lad, I was in subs. When I became a Mustang, ie. I got my commission, I became a Surface Warfare Officer, or Ship "Driver". It is just Navy slang.

Good question, though.

Great! I'm your neighbor in F36. I just moved down to the end this year. The slip is really too wide for a 300DA but it's one of the few slips on F-dock that has enough water to float a boat at low tide. Really nice people on F-dock. Looking forward to meeting you and your family. Take care, Brian

Brian,
Are a Tiki hut and a grill allowed at the end of the dock? We'll be there in a week or so.

Dave

when you get bored of the east-west run and 1' of water outside the steel pipes, head through the canal into the really deep waters (one fathom in some spots!!!) of barnegat bay, where all the cool SR owners hang out.

have you registered for aquapalooza at tices shoal. you just might be "queen of the show" if you come!

and there's also this little shindig we've organized for july 12...

we'd love to have ya there!

welcome and best of luck with your newest ship!:thumbsup:

I've never seen either on any of the docks but I have seen picnic tables set up. The slip agreement say's "no charcoal fires" on the docks so a gas grill may be OK. There is a spot right before you walk up the ramp to F-dock where most people set up grills for the Summer. It's probably best to check with Fred Walshak, the dockmaster, before setting up those items at the end of the slip. Also if you let us use them, I wont complain. See you in a week. Brian

I have in-laws that live in Manahawkin- isn't that Barnegat Bay? While visiting we took the boat and the PWC's out one day- I thought the no-see-um's were bad here in Florida, but I have NEVER experienced biting flies like I did going out of their canals.
I can't remember what they called 'em, but you couldn't give me house for free there.
A gazillion boats and PWC's going in and out, and all you see is everyone swatting flies all over themselves and the boat- quite funny to look at, actually!

yeah, we call them nats (gnats?) and they love boating and the water as much as they do. They do go away when the greenheads come out later in the season.

manahawkin is on barnegat bay, yes. and i guess no-see-ums are gnats but that's the least of the problems. the friggin greenheads are undersized vampire bats!

you must've been out on the bay on a weekend day after 1pm. i've always said if you can make it here (with out sinking, tearing the runnig gear out from under your boat or colliding with an ignorant fool), you can make it anywhere!

Now the truth comes out. Didn't you just invite Dave to this wonderland?

not sure how long dave's been at the jersey shore, but i'll bet he knows all the trechery that IS barnegat bay. and with that 50+ footer, everyone'll be getting out of HIS way!

Hey all,
Sorry for the hiatus. We took the boat to Martell's Water's Edge and then Tice's Shoal last weekend. What a mess!! What was all that stuff in the water? Algae bloom or did a Carnival Cruise line dump their tanks there? Our first trip to the shoal and no one could go into the water. And it was 97 degrees to boot!

Yes, we are signed up for Aquapalooza. I hope to meet some of you there. We're also signed up for the Cape May trip next weekend and the Greenbrook New England trip in August. Any of you going to any of these?

Dave

dave:
how many moorings did you pull out at martells? or did you tie up at the dock?
