Looks Great!

Like the table too.

I need a new cockpit table with a mobile base.

On my 410, we board from the starboard, and that table is just a terrible impediment to boarding.

There are a lot of aftermarket setups, but I really want one of the picnic umbrella type bases with one of those nice inlaid Sea Ray tables.... Ebay Ebay Ebay, I guess.

Thanks! Yeah, I agree the table really sets it all off nicely! It's hard to believe this boat is 14 years old!

Aaron,

I'm working on it....note the trunk latches.....but we are having a hard time finding stainless latches the right size for all those in the cockpit.

Mark,

Corinthian custom cuts each carpet so what you get is going to fit, if you send them decent patterns in the first place. The cost is not meaningful since I changed the OEM design a lot.

1. I did not want 2 pieces of carpet running from the transom door to the cabin entry door.
2. I did not like the white borders showing the cockpit floor everywhere around the edges and between carpet pieces.
3. I hated walking on the the snaps, their potential for pulling out, and their showing everywhere in the cockpit.
4. I did not want the area under the back seat carpeted since we store boat hooks, water toys, outboard motor etc. there when we travel.
5. I wanted "throw rugs" to protect high traffic ares inside the transom door and cabin entry doors.

I made the patterns so each piece of the carpet set fits like wall to wall carpeting and is captured in place by what it fits against.......note there are no snaps in this photos at all. The one long piece pretty much controls the amount of carpet used and in this case because of my desire to not have 2 pieces like the OEM carpet, the controlling dimension was over 13 ft. Not many boats would need that and perhaps no one else minds sectioning the carpet by the icemaker.

My suggestion is for you to consider your needs, look at their website and talk to the folks at Corinthian.....you won't be disappointed and you will get the best snap in carpet money can buy. But best of all, you won't be replacing it next year because the backing dried out or stuck to the deck.

Fantastic fit and look. (Corinthian... save that pattern for me hahaha). I have the "stock" carpet layout in mine that you guys made. I got the boat that way so I didn't have a choice in layout and they are practically new. But when I need new ones, I'm going to look real hard at Franks design. Having it go all the way to the edges makes a HUGE difference in look. Nice color too. Thanks for sharing Frank.

I just noticed the edging... WOW!!!

Frank, very nice....

And I did notice the extra mats fore & aft, cut back under aft seating and the new seam at the corner by the ice maker....

Plus the upper step in back... ( I did both & I am very happy with the carpet back there )

The carpet place I see is in Portland... just 2 hours away !

I like it. I'll be using Corinthian at the end of this season. My backing is awful and we're overdue.

Frank - could you clarify a couple of your points? There are no snaps showing, but are there snaps on the back side of the carpets so the pieces snap in, but the snaps are hidden? Or are the pieces cut tight so they just stay in place w/o snaps? Also, you mentioned the back not drying out - is the backing material different that what we have with the OEM carpets? Mine have the black backing that is constantly flaking off.

How do you do housekeeping with a carpet set up like that? Canvas top so you have water coming in. People over for dinner and food on the floor. Don't you get mildew from wet carpets and how do you clean the deck underneath or is it out of sight.........? How do you cruise in heavy water with spray coming in and then clean the carpets? Are there any floor lockers or hatches to the bilge that are covered up? Or does the floor lift up so you can get to stuff you need to get to and not move heavy carpets. Looks like a tough set up for cruising.

Searay's don't have these problems, only Tiaras...

When your Tiara grows up to 51' LOA and a 14' beam you'll understand.......

La Maddalena,

There are no snaps in the carpet. I made the patterns to fit tightly against the seats, side walls, etc. so the individual pieces cannot move. We've had the corinthian carpet for 2+ months and it stays where you put it if you make the patterns correctly. For Corinthian's part of this, I sent them Kraft paper patterns of what we needed and what I got back was a perfect fit to the patterns.

The backing IS vastly different. It is a ribbed vinyl backing that will not breakdown in the heat/sun and will allow water to run in the ribs to floor drains. That is unlike your OEM carpet that is a cheap latex backing that absorbs water and holds it which makes the back of the carpet you now have like a sauna. I had 3 sets from Sea Ray and aftermarket carpet companies and they were all crap that fell apart in 12-18 months. I refused to spend any more money on junk and have not used cockpit carpets for the last 7-8 years. I found out about Corinthian's Aquamats and their warrantied backing and I have been blown away by the quality of the product and the dedication their personnel have toward doing it right.

SBW1,

To the contrary, this a a superb set up or cruising........

There is one deck hatch on this boat, directly in front of the aft bench seat.

The photos don't show it , but we have a complete aft enclosure with Strataglass side panels. when it rains or we are in heavy seas, we put the side curtains up. The 450DA is a very dry boat and we take no seas or spray to speak of in the cockpit.

My canvas top doesn't leak so the cockpit stays dry. If we do get rained on, the carpet is an Olefin fiber Berber with a ribbed vinyl backing so getting it wet doesn't hurt anything. Just to save wear and tear on the carpet, we usually put it up and off the boat when the kids and grandkids are along and doin' their on the boat/off the boat 1000 times a day thing.

Cleaning is easy with the built-in Wal-Vac or a shop vac. But the way it is installed, we can easily roll the carpet up and scrub the fiberglass deck.

Looks very nice Frank. I just replaced mine with carpet from SnapIn. Good folks as well. They sent me samples. One was the OE carpet, with the same black backing. Though it lasted several years, I wanted something better, and opted for carpet with the NuWave backing (made by Shaw).

It looks great. My only regret is that I didn't do my own pattern (they had a pattern for my boat - so I took the lazy route). I think looking back on it, I would have liked to have made the carpet a bit larger, as you did.

But the Admiral loves it, and I love that the backing isn't flaking off anymore.

Frank's right, it's all about the backing. Tiara has been using the ribbed vinyl backing for several years. The carpet lays flat with no snaps. Ours is almost five years old and doen't stick or flake or slide around. A much superior product to the rubber backing. Oh, and my measley little 45 LOA Tiara has a pretty dry ride. But, I'm sure it's just because I have a fully enclosed cockpit.
