Got a Quote today from a Local New Jersey Canvas Company who does good work and I almost SH1+ myself!!!! My boat wasn't offered with a Camperback as an option so it's an add on.......$6400. total. That's a hell of allot of;
Shekels
Greenbacks
Somalians
In this economy?????? and we didn't even get into options like Screens, etc!
Am I being unrealistic?

I don't know about the going rate for these kinds of things, but I'd just like to have a larger version of the existing aft sunshade. I've often wondered how hard it would be to make it myself. You can buy all the tubing, fixtures, and Sunbrella online. I wouldn't attempt a camper back but if all you want is more shade, then I'd think this would be in the reach of an average person for a LOT less than 6400 skins.

Does that include new front glass? I assume it does include new custom SS tubing and hardware for the back. Would it tie into the existing back canvas off the hardtop?

Sounds high!

I'm with you... I would like to extend the existing aft hoop and build off of that... no tubing/hardware mounted on the sides like traditional camper canvas.

I do think you'd need to add side braces further out on the hoop or it would cause the whole thing to flop up and down while underway. I am seriously thinking about this for a winter project. You could use cheap bedsheets to prototype the pattern and once you had that down, you'd cut the Sunbrella. You would need a sewing machine capable of working with canvas, but even with that expense, I still think a lot of money could be saved.

I've seen it done a couple of ways aftermarket! The best set up is to use the aft Arch Cover with a zipper and extend from there putting up a Bimini extension back aft!

That sounds waaaaay too high. This is what $2,300 bought about five years ago....

Price have gone up over that time but not triple.

I like that idea and if I could find someone selling it for my boat, I'd buy it.

That is nuts! I just priced my whole enclosure not to long ago and it was less than half of that from Great Lakes. I was going to contact the company in Lakewood because I wanted some custom options, but I just might pass. Maybe I will buy the enclosure then pay someone to do the few modifications I want. I think they are are way out of line on price..even for custom work.

If Great Lakes has your pattern they cannot be beaten on price. The 270 camper quote was just $1350 shipped. Does GLBT have Bugsy's pattern? MM

If your talking about Gioia that's who gave me the Quote!

My understanding is that boats with V-Drives didn't have the option because of Carbon Monoxide poisoning concerns.

Not an option for any 07-09 310, regardless of propulsion.

!!
That's what I love about you MM... you think "Out of the Box"! My concern is my boat is a 2008, am I going to have to go through this again in 2014?

All of my 2007 canvass is still in great shape!
