New boat prices

You guys think you have problems…. I can’t afford a smaller boat :( ….. $509k ??

I was on one of these at the Toronto boat show several years ago. Due to boarder style seating there is very little cabin space. No thanks, going to hang on to my 2005 390DA forever.

Darned auto correct. Meant bowrider not boarder

We had a small boat show this weekend in town. Looked at a 2024 Chaparral 307 SSX. Really nice boat, and down right affordable at the boat show price of only $230K. That's a bit less than twice the MSRP on my boat new and 3 times what I paid for it. But in today's terms, it is actually a good deal. I love the twin Simrad touch screens. It may well be my next boat, but not this year.
I never thought I'd leave Sea Ray. But the closest boat in Sea Ray's lineup is the 310 SLX which has a hard top with no tow point. The Sea Ray is $200,000 more for roughly the same equipment.

I’m still up on the air between new Cobia or keep my paid off 260. Those payments are $1300 a month. But I’m already in 10k since January and I still don’t even have the estimate to repair the outdrive yet o_O

Seems like every time you fix one thing something else breaks. My boat still runs great, but it does need new upholstery. But I have paid a lot to keep the mechanicals maintained. It is hard to give up a boat that still fits the need. But technology has come so far and I really don't feel like rebuilding my entire dash to accommodate two Simrad touch screens. Plus I (well my kids) have always wanted a tower.

It probably has a lot to do with being 17 years old and rolling up on 1100 hours but it’s getting old. granted, a lot of the things I’m doing are because of age, and I’ve gotten most of those components. At some point I’ll hit the end. And then it will start anew! And most of the aggravation is because of where I live, where I was supposed to be somewhere else by now

Definitely get the tower. Growing up my old man had a 38 hardtop express with a flybridge annd twin diesels. It was awesome.

I think @highslice was talking about a towing tower. Crazy money for the Sea Ray and you can't hook a tow line to the hard top...

Actually our boats are both the same age. Of course I have the advantage of being in fresh water and only 575 hours.

That will certainly help. I had about 510 on it when I bought it in 2019. It definitely was not cared for prior to my ownership.

I probably shouldn’t bitch so much, I put more hours on than most people do and realistically it’s been pretty reliable. Everything is just catching up to me right this moment.

I can tell you from experience Cobia builds a nice boat. I'm seriously thinking about going back to a center console, myself. Cobia will be one of the brands I would get. But I will go used. There is a good selection of low hour center consoles available. I want to go 29 to 37ft in size. I bought this 277cc used.

When I was shopping late last spring, there were tons of used Cobia's around for way cheaper than the Key Wests, Robalos, Sea Pros, etc. I never really understood why they were considerably cheaper as they do build a nice boat. I found what I wanted in a Robalo Bay boat.

I stop into my local Skippers bud to pickup a part…… Their show room is a little shocking

I just dropped 12k on a new Bravo 3 yesterday.

I hung a new Yamaha f150 on my wellcraft in 2012. It was 14 and change with the rigging and a new prop o_O

I bought my first boat in 1968. One hundred and sixty five bucks. OK, well it was a kit and what I got were a bunch of pieces of wood. Built it in about 6 months. $120 for a trailer kit. Yeah, had to put that together as well. The big expense was a brand spanking new Evinrude for 600 bucks.

All in all with glue screws and paint It was about about $1100. The windshield and convertible top were added a year later.

I guess times have changed. The wife came home from the grocery store today with a $220 bill.

Looking back, I had more fun in that old woodie than I have had since then. Getting **** in something you built with your own hands is priceless.

Look at the 370….. $8.5k prep…. $11k in transport …. That’s a lot of prep

Price out the 370DA with the twin V-12 outboards. You're at 1 MIL before adding a single option

I bought my wife a new 13' Whaler last year, and traded in my Sundancer towards a center console with OB. Yes -- major sticker shock. But it was nice to have a full boating season where I didn't have to replace anything. It's great for what we do now. But I definitely miss having a cruiser. I'd like to get back into a 40 or 42 Sundancer in a few years.

My 15' Whaler is my favorite. Plus, the wife loves it as well. It's my "fishing" boat, plus it's our "Vacation" boat when we travel to various destinations.

Yeah, it was sticker shock when I bought it . However, if maintained they last almost forever. Resale value is better than most. Mine is a 2018 model. I saw a sale at a local marina where the same model sold for about half what I paid. Buttttt, it was a 1964. That's probably what it cost new.

The beauty, though, is that no matter what the water conditions are, they ride like a gem.
