I was watching some Youtube videos from the Miami Boat Show. Prices sure have changed in the just under 2 years that I've not been paying attention.

13' center consoles - no radio, one gauge, no cooler - show special - $29K.

27' Chris Craft with a stern drive - No cabin, toilet in a little closet in front of the main passenger seat. Overall, it is a very sharp looking boat. But $428K! Huh? Really? And you can't even spend the night on it?

Everything over 30' shown in several videos that I watched were well over $500K. None of them were "yachts". My mechanic told me I could get $100k for mine while he was working on it at the end of last season. I told him he was nuts. Maybe it's me and he knows something I don't? It sure looks like boating is going to be out of reach for most of the population in short order.

I'm glad that I found the right boat for me, and that it's paid for.

I just received this months Boating magazine and the boats have phone numbers for price tags. The boat manufacturers have lost touch with the buyers. It's become a rich mans market and their attitude is take it or leave it. It is nuts that day boats are 200K and up! If you want to sleep on a boat 500K seems to be the starting point. I bought a new boat once and five years later when I sold it I was still upside down on the loan.

What's your point?

My auto insurance just went up by 25% (no accidents or tickets)

A weekly food bill used to be about $80. Now it's almost $200.

Gas used to be $2 and change a gallon. Now it's $3.59.

I reload for my shooting club. Primers used to be $28 a box, they peaked at about $160 and not are down to "only" $90.

The wife and I stopped at McDonalds today for a shake and fry snack...$16.00.

My SS just went up. I got a measly few dollars after they increased Medicare.

And yet, they are lining up at the border to sneak into the USA for a better life.

We are truly doomed.

It’s Bidenomics in action! Prices way up, social security up a couple of bucks, and a flood of illegals to dilute everything.

Guy posted a "most affordable center console af the Miami boat show" video. 22' Sea Chaser made by Carolina Skiffs with a Suzuki 200 outboard on it. Another nice looking boat, but the price... Just out of line for what it is.

I've spent a lot of time on small center consoles and even plain old flat bottom aluminum boats and I've had many good times on them, but I wouldn't pay $63k to do it. The enjoyment to value ratio is way out of balance these days. I don't care what the economy is like, or what it cost to build, that boat contains about $20-25k of enjoyment value in it for me. Paying any more than that on a boat without at least the basic amenities (some form of shelter and a head would be nice) is just out of the question.

You should see the Scout prices for the 40' CC with 5 engines. $2M. Crazy prices for nothing. It does seem to be centered around the CC market though. I have seen Riviera's (46) going for more reasonable prices. Or at least you get more for your money.

It's not just boats. For anyone that knows anything about guns, this is the 125th anniversary of the Mauser. The finest rifle ever made. The 125th anniversary model has a list price of $40,000.00. They sold out in a very short time. You can be sure that the secondary market will price them at at least 50k.

I’ve been hearing complaints about the price of boats since I bought my first new one in 1971, a Butterfly sailboat. The comment is alway along the lines of they are unaffordable and I will will never buy a new boat. Well guess what….people are still buying new boats. All it takes is money and desire. There is an abundance of both.

That's a stupid comment. That comment says "I have so much money I don't care. So screw you". If that's not what you meant, that's how I read it.

I was at the boat show last month, talking to the Sea Ray dealer. They sold 3 new 320 Sundancers at the show ($500K). That was shocking. They aslo had a 370 DA at the show .... msrp 1.2 MIL but boat show special price was $990K o_O
