New 350 Sundancer

Holly sport cruisers batman, 320K for a 35’ non-diesel boat!!

For grins, I just did a search on Yachtworld for Searay’s 2005 – 2007, 34 to 42 feet, not over 320K on the east coast only and found 73 boats. The 36 footers were at least 100K less asking price and many are fully optioned.

I just puked all over my keyboard.... WTF ... As if the economy wasnt killing them enough they just floated another TOAD!!!! HOLY CR@p

Rob

Thank god you said that.... I was beginning to think I was the only one in the country who thought exactly that....

What is with the random, mis matched windows in the hull? This is another new trend that I just dont get. Azimut started this years ago with a red hulled 60 or 70 footer. Since then all the american builders started putting windows in the side of the hull. I understand the the reason for them (minimizing the cave feeling inside) but it seems like they are just trown in there with no forethought at all. This one takes it to a new low by taking two large completely different concept windows and putting them boat randomly on the same hull. They all need to go back and take another look at that red azimut to see how to do it right.

and what is with the new "semi hard" top....... ;-)

I am sure the interior is nice and the features are great but don't they stand back and look at these before they start producing them anymore? They can't be....

I hate to post comments about these new boats becuse I don't want to be too negative or get flamed but Robski has it right. With gas prices and the economy already as a headwind, producing boats this ugly and pricing them 100k more than just two years before seems suicidal to me.

I will try not to bash then anymore after this post. If you guys like the new style, have at it. Maybe I will get used to it. (doubtfull)

Random bends in the sheerline, the rubrail dragging in the water at the stern, assorted mismatched windows, a windshield so tall you could bolt onto a school bus, these boats don't look seaworthy, sleek, or fast. they look like they are sinking.

Maybe the granite countertops, flat screen TV's and joysticks make up for it.

I will have to agree also, that exclamation point taking a nap looks stupid on the side of a boat. Take that away and it would look pretty good though. Would like to see the the rest of the pics when you get a chance. SB

Is the 350DA really that much more pricey than a 340DA? I just priced a new 340DA using Sea Ray's Configurator and equipped the way I would want it the "sticker price" came out to $348K.

Prince William marine has one listed on their site now also.

It shouldnt be long now before its on SR's site too since they are apparently listing it as an 08?
320k at the show for the very first boat out was probably a very good money maker for the dealer. I'd guess less than 10% discount, or at least I hope. If they can't be had for mid 2's, SR may be in trouble when theres other brands for low 2's out there. I'm not sure the Sea Ray name is worth 100k+ to most buyers. SB

Here is the picture from the site that NEWBIE posted.

I like the looks of it from this photo.

I got pricing on an loaded 2007 340 last October. A $324k list worked out to be $265k out the door. So at $320K out the door, thats a 20% premium, but it's also a model year newer.

In that pic, it really doesnt look much different than the current 340 with the exception of the hull window, bilge vents and the hard top. I do like the hardtop I must say. Maybe it's not that bad?? It even has a Gary approved antennea :smt043 SB

I think you are talking about the bilge vent cover. I saw that on a 290 Amberjack at the boat show several weeks back and threw up in my mouth as well. Too much bling for a boat. It must be Sea Ray's latest direction.

BTW, I wonder how well the finish on it will hold up in the salt water environment???

Looks like a 290 on steroids. And that hardtop handhold looks hideous. A walk though windshield on a 35' boat?

There was a lot of interest in the boat and they sold the one there, plus a second one that was diesel with the new Zeus drives. Not everyone will like it or other boats made by the other manufacturers, but they do have a lot of great features especially in the cabin, and from the cabin the window shaped that way looks good.

I was at the Miami show and when back 3 times to visit the 350. I almost purchased a new 340 before the show and glad I didn't. The 350 looks much better than the photos show. I agree the big window does look out of place. I visited every boat at the show in the 350 league and the 350 is the new standard, the Regal 3760 probably comes in second but lacks many of the new 350 features. SeaRay has done their homework and addressed most of the issues with the 340 relative to the competition. The swivelling helm is really a nice feature, room for the E120 display, DTS, the arch is really nice with inlays for the electronic antennas, the rear pull out seat is really nice, a walk thru front window, and a covered windlass. The top deck is really well done and crafted and has 2 extra sky lights along with the hatch. The interior is much improved with elegant recessed indirect lighting from the big windows, shower door, and lots of storage including floor. Not a fan of the tilt bed though. The engine room is much the same as the 340 with the really tight spacing of the 8.1L engines with V drives. This is where SeaRay and Mercruiser need some serious work. I was down in the engine room twice for 30 minutes checking everything out. The underwater exhaust pipes stick out to much from the engines and tapper outwords towards the stern, this makes it impossible to squeeze thru between the engines to the stern where the strainers are for the gen and AC. Like in the 340 you must lay over the engines for access to the strainers. Regal 3760 has the Volvo 8.1L engines with the same GM block and has much more room between the engines (>1foot)...why can't SeaRay and Mercruiser get this right???

All in all the 350 was more impressive than I expected but with a rumored 20~30K premium over the 340 I'm still going to wait. I didn't even know you could buy one at the show?? The SeaRay rep said this one was kind of thrown together for the shows. BTW I did ask about the extra weight 18000lbs and no one was sure. I did find out the 350 has an entirely new hull and top side.

Outside the price this was indeed an impressive boat.

Good words - not my style. I really glad about that though. That's the thing about taste - everyone's different. If there were only one solution, life would be very boring.
