Hello All,

I have a '93 Searay 400 EC Express Cruiser. It has a large plexiglass companionway sliding door. This door open is connected to an upper and lower rail by four nylon 'trucks'. These are solid pieces of plastic/nylon that are about 1 to 1 1/2" long. The cross section is like a very fat 'T'. The top of the T slots into the tracks while the door is secured to each truck using a single machined bolt that passes through the center of the truck. There's a nut countersunk into the truck that the bolt screws into.

Here's my problem. One of these has snapped in half (I only have the one half) and I'm finding it IMPOSSIBLE to find a replacement part. I've now worked with the local MarineMax for 2.5 months and received 2 parts that have both been wrong. In fact, neither one was even close.

They're suggesting that I replace the rails and trucks but the rails are an integral part of the door frame and it would be a LARGE Task. All for a $20 part.

Any ideas on how to source these or how to have one made.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

Has anyone suggested that you call Spartech?

I don't know if they made the door assembly on your boat or not, but they did make a number of Sea Ray entry doors. As long as the boat is out of production, they will sell parts directly.

Thanks! I've sent them an email asking for assistance. I 'believe' they're the people I contacted before who insisted I have my dealer contact them. I been working through my dealer for 2.5 months and it's going nowhere.

I would have to believe that with as popular as the 400EC was other people have had this weak part break on them as well.

Just happened to see this old post looking for something else and thought I would put this out there if it can help anyone...I also have a 400EC (1994) on which I replaced the complete companionway door becuase the Plex was so crazed from years of sun. I also bought OEM replacement Delran Door Glides to get the door to open and close more smoothly. The point is you can still buy many door parts for older boats. If anyone has door questions on the earleir 400EC doors I would suggest you go to the Pomapanette website (www.pompanette.com) and then click on the "Aluminum 2000" graphic for more information...or contact me as I have rebuild this door and it is like new!

I will watch this thread close. I have a 1998 400EC and I have been nursing my companion door tracks since I picked it up from original owner. I am sure some day we may all need help.

Please post any findings anyone has (Past, Present, Future).

did you ever find the parts to repair this? I have a 1995 400EC in need of new trucks. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks johnstonb!... after reading your post more clearly, I found the replacement parts for my 1995 SR 400EC companion door glides.

Door glide kit #601-0005
White caps #40-4059

I ordered through Pompenette at (603) 826-5791

Guys:

I contacted the manufacturer of the door according to the phone number on the sticker found at the bottom of the door. Mine is for a 1995 400EC. They have the replacement hardward and will ship it to you. It was pretty cheap - the shipping was more than the hardware. I will lift the number of the factory for "Aluminum 2000" and post it here this weekend.

-George

**Sorry - Didn't realize it was the same company...**

Thank you for the information. I have the exact same door and looking to do the same. Do you still have the part numbers and where you ended up getting everything? I clicked on the Aluminum 2000 graphic and its very hard to find anything.

Thanks,

CJ
