I got a call from my marina on Saturday that my 2001 Sedan Bridge was broken into while in dry storage in South Toms River, NJ. The sliding door is so badly damaged from the crow bar used that it should be replaced. Marine Max tells me the door originally made by Taylor Made for Sea Ray is discontinued. Does anyone know where I might get one new or maybe a different model/manufacturer that will fit in that opening OR someone that might be able to repair most of the frame material? Maybe a custom built door manufacturer? The glass did not break. My door was white aluminum but there was a stainless option offered for this model. I am waiting for Se Ray plant to get back tot me but I am not hopeful. Really desperate here... Thanks for any suggestions !

Joe rebuilt several boats damaged in Sandy and he is very good with fiberglass repair... BTW, I would move your boat out of south toms river, to an area less accessible like good luck point or Dillan's creek...

Before you run off down the wrong path, did you call Taylor Made yourself? I ran into a similar problem with the center windshield aluminum extrusion on my boat that had corroded. They made me one even though the item was discontinued. I had to go through my SR Dealer and it was not cheap, but, they did make one.

So, I suggest giving them a call first and see if they can cooperate with the program.

Have you spoken to Taylormade directly or is your "no longer available" from your local MM parts department? Getting an answer from the horses mouth in this situation is important. Frequently, I find that the MM parts people are less than inventive and only make a cursory attempt at finding parts. If the item you need is NLV on the Sea Ray parts system, they quit and you get a less than complete answer. I would contact Sea Ray customer service and tell them what you need and ask them to give you the Taylormade part number and a contact at Taylormade, then call them directly. Any proprietary agreement that requires funneling parts thru the dealer network has long expired on your boat. We've had numerous instances where Taylor could make or get the parts needed, for a price, I assure you, but right now anything beats where you are.

Good luck with it.

Thanks for that tip. The fiberglass was not damaged at all, just the aluminum master frame and aluminum frame around the glass panels. Yes, S. Toms River is a problem for security, evidently.

I have contacted Sea Ray directly with numerous other questions and have asked the questions you just suggested. My insurance will need to cover this and under the circumstances, price can not be an issue, I need a new door. Thanks, good advice Frank.

Thanks Fred I appreciate it. Just spoke to the surveyor and will be meeting him Saturday morning at the marina. I did not see your PM...

I know of someone who had a 4080 Regal, it also used a Taylor Made, curved sliding door.

They had the same thing happen to them and the cost of the replacement door was nearly 20k by the time it was installed!

Real sorry to hear about this. Question: Was the door, the frame or both damaged?
