Nice dock neighbor, for a day. When I returned to port, my hose was in use by the boat next door, fittings disassembled and strewn across his boat's bow. Apparently, the owner was off finding parts. The young ladies on board were put out by me needing to remove my hose from their dock inlet in order to clean up my boat. We cleaned the boat up, and headed off for home. When we returned, my hose was in disarray, fittings broken and missing, and the port side/transom of my boat was absolutely COVERED in black soot. My white dock lines are saturated in soot and rub the mess into my gel coat. They worked on their boat in my marina, trashed my equipment and boat, and then went on their merry way from South Florida to a lake/river in Kentucky.

It was about a 56' Azimut - nice boat, but not sure of the condition. I never met the owner, just two young ladies that were staying on board while the owner/friend drove to Jacksonville to pick up a pump. I would appreciate any info/help in letting them know that in the big boat business, manners follow you across the nation. Thanks for letting me vent and any help spreading my message.

Would your Harbormaster have the name off the boat? I'm sure a boat like that is documented.

Sounds like your standard issue Jackass.

Fairly easy if you have the name and hailing port.

Sorry to hear that, damage to your "stuff" and messing your boat up is past downright annoying. If it's a USCG doc vessel won't the Marina Dock Master know the name etc., perhaps? With regard to your comment that "manners follow you across the nation", now you hit on my "pet peeve" because today it's bloody hard to find anyone that has any!

I went in to check with the marina manager today, but he doesn't work weekends. I'll check soon. I'll bet someone here knows something.

I am going to bet that you find out the boat was being run by a hired captain delivering it to wherever and his "crew" was his score with whom a boat trip to KY was a big deal. Your marina is within sight of the ICW and with a major hiway in sight from the water, it probably looked inviting to a transient.......and you got elected most likely because of your, Jason's and Hal's boats being visible.

Sorry to hear John.

about the only place in Kentucky for a boat that size would be Kentucky Lake. Searay40dad is around there, he may know the boat.

I would be interested in a name and hailing port if you come across it. Buds right, there's only a couple places to keep that kind of boat in KY. I know "of" a guy on the lakes who has/had a boat that fits that description (Azimut around that size) but he had his engine room waxed and polished regularly so I would be surprised if you'd ever find a spec of soot on his boat. But he does (or did) go to FL every winter and you would definitely find ladies on the boat. I haven't seen him for a couple of years now come to think of it.

I take it you are using the world "ladies" loosely:)

I haven't used a lady loosely in years - oh, nevermind, that's not what you meant. I got the impression this was a new purchase with the owner doing the trek, but I could be wrong. It's kind of fun to track him down though.

John,

Sorry to hear about the incident. Even though it may sound like no big deal to many, but I think it would be great if you can track the boat owner down. The minute I read your post I had the same thoughts about hired captain with a "crew". I guess some people don't realize that a boat name is very important part of boating life, simply b/c everything that happens (action of the boat or action of the crew) it all goes back to the boat name. In case if our theory is is correct that the boat is being delivered by an a-hole captain this situation most likely goes on in more than one location and everyone who's affected knows the boat and the "a-hole owner" while the real owner may have no clue and might be actually very nice guy. So, tracking him down may save him some trouble as well, again providing that the boat was operated by hired captain.

Good luck with the hunt.

Finally talked to marina manager today. Boat's name was "Cat's Meow." he said it showed up on a Coast Guard (or similar) list for stolen yachts. He called the authorities and they hauled them and the boat away, supposedly. Anyone know of this or other stories about it? No luck with Google.

So you're saying they hauled the boat in FL or KY ?

He said in our area, Fl. I'll be really surprised to find any corroborating info.
