I have a 30ft sundancer and cleaned the waster tank out but still have bad waste odor from the bilge area and the bathroom. I cant see any perforated hoses. What should I be looking for or doing to eliminate the odor? Please reply to opticianjw@msn.com

If you are using raw water in your head that might cause it too.
My boat has a manual head with a holding tank. I started getting a smell too, and everything in the system checked out. I stopped pumping raw water in the bowl and the smell went away. Now I just use the hand held shower to put fresh water in the bowl when needed. This is my second season with this method and so far still no smell.

Do you mean the odor is still there after cleaning, or it comes back after using it again? Use a decent holding tank agent intended for RV's etc. There are small blocks that get flushed into the tank and slowly dissolve there.

Is there something stuck in the vac line or are the duckbills leaking?

Ultimately stop letting poultry use your toilet. :)

I had the same problem. Foul odor coming from bilge. Swore it was the holding tank. I changed the vent filter and spent some time sniffing around the engine compartment. Turns out the smell was coming from some nasty standing water in the forward part of the bilge outboard of the engine mount struts. This water had no way of getting to the center compartment where the pumps are. I bought a manual pump from West Marine and spent a fun afternoon pumping out the nasty stuff, and then cleaning with bilge cleaner and mopping. No odor anymore. Yea!

Clean your bilge with some bleach or the yellow starbrite canvis stuf it will kill the mold also check your canvis on in side.

Also check your batteries. I did not check them this summer and was low on acid. Since the boat is always plugged in on the slip, they started to boil even though the amp meter was showing .5 amp charge. After that the smell went away and I am checking the batteries when I first board at the beginning of the weekend.

We had a pet chicken....she even laid eggs for breakfast but not on the boat, Mike.
