Just notified by my mechanic that the engine on my 2004 260SD has to be pulled to fix a water leak at the throttle thru hull location. Any advice on what should be done while the engine is out?
Thanks!

Do you know where its leaking at? The reason I ask is because I have a leak coming from the back of the engine on the top.
I was going to pull the out drive when I pull the boat and see what I can find.
Sure how I don't have to pull the engine.

Not exactly sure other than "where the shift cables go through the hull"

What outdrive do you have? Don't the shift, trim and throttle cables all go through the dam hole covered by the bellows? Can't they just replace the bellows without removing the entire engine?? Or am I missing something

Huh? The throttle cable does not go through the hull anywhere, so the chances of the it causing a water leak are slim to none. The shift cable does go through the transom assembly, but a leak there can be corrected by replacing the shift bellows and that does not require pulling the engine.

There is more to this story, you might want to double check and find out exactly what your mechanic wants to fix.
