At the end of last season, my original Clarion amp (APA4203) fried. Any suggestions on buying a new amp?

I have 4 newer Alpine 6 1/2" speakers and a stock Clarion sub in the cockpit. There are 2 stock Clarion speakers in the cabin. If possible, I would like to be able to shut the cabin speakers off while the kids are below.

What would be a good (not great) amp to get so that I do not have to rewire anything?

Thanks.

Charlie, the Clarion APA 4203 is an amp that will e easy to replace. You will be able to use same wire configuration providing you go with another 4 channel amp. Find one like the APA4203 that has the 2/3/4 channel abilities along with high pass and low pass fiters. You should be able to remove amp and go shopping for replacement. It was a $250.00 amp back in its time with a Max output of 500 watts total. More important specs would be Mosfet Power Supply and Continuous Average Power of 50 watts X 4 at 4ohm from 20hz - 20khz.

Several choices. Wiring not your concerns providing you go with another 2/3/4 channel amp. Expect to spend about 200-300 bucks.

Any brand suggestions? Also, the manual says it's a car amp. Do I need to buy a marine rated amp?

As long as the amp is protected from the eliments a standard car amp is fine. If not that may be the/part of the reason your current amp has failed. Pick a Major Name brand like Alpine, Clarion, JL, Kenwood, Pioneer, Fosgate and more.

Keep in mind this is a good time to upgrade to something a little more Robust. Let us all know if you want to jump up to the $4-800 range and we will jump in with what works for us.

It will work in place of what you had. It is not as powerfull as the APA4203. I would take this time to upgrade as long as you're getting involved.

So, I'm looking at a 1996 330 Sundancer that has a Sony system in it. It has a 10" sub and a couple 6" speakers with a Sony head unit and disc changer. The sub is mounted down low just off the floor to the left of the captains seat. I assume a free air speaker. I am wondering what others have done as far as subs are concerned. I believe a sealed box would be more efficient, but not really sure how/where to b uild or put it. I would prefer to use 12's and I would prefer to have 2 subs. I would consider using 1 sub and upgrading to a better JL Audio sub if it would drastically improve things. I also would like to add a Ipod/Iphone interface to use in the system with remote (dash and transom) controls. Anyone have a website, pics or advice on this?

This sounds like a Hijack!! You may want to start your own thread which may get more replies. You could also post in the 330 section to see what others have done there.
