Anyone have any ideas what these two plugs are for? They're both in the electrical compartment below the steering wheel. 2010 330DA...

The one on the right looks like a USB port. I am thinking the one on the left is a stereo pigtail. Was there a stereo removed/replaced?

The one on the right is a USB port that was or is supposed to be mounted in the dash somewhere, unless it's an aftermarket add on.

Do you have a hole missing a plug somewhere close by? If so, this jack was probably there. If you look closely, I believe it unscrews and there should be a bezel or cover of some sort that goes on the top/outer most part for a finished look.

They look like extensions from your smartcraft J-Box to me or off the vesselview. This is the easy way for you to connect a MFD to your system and view engine data etc on the MFD. all you would need is the Mercury Gateway which plugs directly into the 14 pin connector. If everybody would look at the Mercury J-Boxes and their connections, they all use purple connectors and terminators. Just my opinion though.

That's kind of what I was thinking it might be. So you think I might be able to just plug in a mercury gateway to that connector? Wish there was a way to be sure before I spent the money. Anyone want to lend me a Mercury gateway? :)

For reference, I've connected mine with a connector like that which is under my helm dash on my current boat and my tech plugs his laptop into getting technical and detail usage info with his Mercury marine software as well. Compared the color coded order of wires from your pic to pics I have of mine and they seem identical. In addition, the tag marked with the number 22 on yours is marked the same going into the back of my vesselview. I have pics of everything behind and below my bridge helm.

so yes, I think you can plug in a gateway and go from there with no problem. For my application, since I have Raymarine MFD's, the Mercury gateway would go from that J-Box connection to my Seatalk network which is connected to my MFD's.

It is pretty easy. I would look on eBay. When I purchased my current boat, my Meridian, it had no electronics other than Raymarine ST-60+ depth finder and Raymarine GPS. So I just added a Seatalk1 to SeatalkNG network kit and Raymarine A97 MFD's. Connecting the Seatalk to the ST-60+ and connecting it to the main MFD. That allowed me to get depth on my MFD. They have built in GPS now, so didn't need to connect that. So if you get the Merc Gateway, connect it to the pin connector that you show in your pic and you will just need the Raymarine adapter cable which connects the other end of the Merc Gateway to your Seatalk connection. Then you can setup in your MFD what you want to see as it relates to your engines, rudder, etc... Since my vesselview already shows all that stuff and things like water tank level, holding tank level, generator info, I can display all that as well on the MFD's and configure how I want it displayed.

Not off the top of my head. All my documentation and manuals are onboard. If you are unsure which is the correct one, I would just contact Mercury Marine customer service or check with Brian at BOE Marine to be on the safe side.

I don't know about Axius, but I do not think there is a different version. I may be wrong. The gateway will allow you to get all of the data onto whatever MFD you use. I'm assuming you have a vesselview. If you do,myou can get that all onto other devices with the gateway and since you have Raymarine, you can then use the app on an iPhone and iPad to view and control as well. Anyway, good luck.

Well I take that back. Looking at Rob's link and then clicking their install link, it does show a version that connects to Axius. So as far which one to go with, that's above my pay grade. I can only help a little in hookup.

Yep, see that for Axius you need 8M0065209 According what I can find is only nmea0813 feed, not sure if you can take direct from Plotter...

In this thread some discussion regarding the same http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/54368-Mercruiser-Gateway

Think best you can do is contact Mercury and ask for advise (and discount ;-) )
