My boating done for year

Everybody thinks what they have that was damaged is worth more than what the insurance company wants to pay. It was rare when someone said "thank you so much for all the money you gave us, it's more than we needed". There's a lot that goes into pricing and paying a claim then people realize. There's a lot of fraud as well. People would try to get me to pay for prior damage, pay for things that weren't even in the car, etc. So the insurance company should do their due diligence, and so should the claimant.

I've been involved on the insurance side as well as the insured side. It's similar to negotiating something you want to buy or sell from somebody if you're not happy with their offer. I've had positive, fair experiences with every insurance company I've had to deal with in my life. Maybe it's because I go into the claim not thinking they suck and I'm going to rape them for every penny they got.

And if insurance sucks so much, cancel all your policies.

Assuming you have full coverage on your car, if things aren't going well with the other insurance company, let your insurance company take care of it, let everything go through subrogation.

@Pirate Lady, this sounds similar to what my ex-wife went through, the kid alleged he had the green light and did not run a red light. So I can empathize. He got a ticket at the scene for running a red light. He hired a good attorney who got it thrown out in court. Everything eventually worked out the way it was supposed to. Insurance paid the claim.

Most of the ambulance chaser attorneys I had to work with when I worked in insurance claims didn't care about their client. They didn't care that their bills weren't getting paid. They just wanted their 1/3 of the settlement. I hope your situation is different.

Greg, I agree. Insurance companies, in general, do not suck. Certain companies do. I have Safeco. I have had 2 significant claims since 2015. I did not have to fight with them on either one. They were fair and adhered to the terms of the policy. I have been dealing with commercial insurance for 30 years. Never once did I walk away from a claim feeling cheated or treated unfairly. And never once did I have to hire a lawyer.

She came home last Tuesday, able to get around with walker and cane. Went to doctor Friday, xrays, doc said looking good. She has no medical restrictions and can start doing whatever she feels up to. He said she probably looking at mid September at the earliest to return to work. She still spending most her time in a guest bedroom. Maybe another week will see more mobility.

I showed her all the emails from you guys . She really appreciates it. And the ideas about medicare. She chomping at the bit to go car shopping, but we never been a left over model year kind of people. 24s coming out soon, i told her slow down, you dont need a car yet. Next month we go shopping. Meantime she has her peeps on lookout for a particular model. Remember, she works in office at a huge dealership and been in the automotive industry for years.

Very glad to hear she continues to improve. Was wondering, but didn't want to ask.
Conrats on her new car!
Y'all should do a Hyundai commercial to rival that one Subaru keeps playing!

Congratulations on the new car.

I had planned on buying a Ford Exploder when I retire. Then my daughter bought a used 2022 Hyundai Palisade. I rode in it and was very impressed. I now will purchase a new Hyundai Palisade right before I retire.

You should go and drive the Explorer as soon as possible after driving that hyundai. As the saying goes... Drive everything else first.

Part of the situation is I have a 2017 Escape that I have had a litany of minor issues and I currently have a bad taste in my mouth from Ford...

Yea, the Escapes are a whole different animal. I understand your sentiments 100%. You should still drive the Explorer. Remember even if they say the hyundai is built in America, it is only assembled here, with parts mostly imported from Asia and all of the big money goes back there also.

I drove the Explorer ST. Nice truck, no question. But while they could sell it to me, they couldn't deliver it, because they had a recall on the backup camera. Been going on for a while now, with no good fix. Told them to call when it was cleared up. Still waiting. :)

Parts are now available. Check back with your dealer. Oh, and get another another salesman. Parts have been available for 3-5 weeks.
