No boat....no engines
After looking for more than a year for the right job to apply for in the New Orleans area my wife applied for, and accepted an offer for, a position there. But when she tried to give notice to her present employer they told here they did not want to lose her and found her a position there as well and offered a nice re-location package to sweeten the deal. So she will be going to Louisiana with a California income. I will be retiring....sort of.

We listed our home last Thursday, had an Open House Sat & Sun and should had offers tomorrow or Tuesday. It's really a seller's market here. As soon as escrow opens here I will fly there and choose a home (Buyer's market). We will be living on the North Shore of Lake Pontchatrain.

While the relocation package is good they will not pay to move the Cobalt so I will be towing it the 2400 miles to get there. Unfortunately the boat is not ready to move yet. There are so many parts not on it that I am afraid I will lose pieces during the move and some parts are not replaceable. So for the next few weeks I will be working to get the boat ready to transport.

It's going to take some getting used to. I have lived in California since 1981. I guess I will be trading earthquakes for hurricanes. But I am looking forward to exploring the Lake and the Central Gulf Coast. Always up for a new adventure.

congratz.. You can secure stuff in he boat have it shrinkwrapped before towing it. it can be shrinkwrapped below water line, no road dirt or bugs to clean off on arrival..

Awesome....keep us posted.

Going to be a kept man! Good on ya'.

Like they told Capt'n Quint in Jaws………"You gonna need a bigger boat!"

Good luck with the move. You will enjoy the heat and the mosquitos,……. but most of all, the people in the south.

Glad to see all is working out well, it'll be a huge life change for both of you but what a great adventure to take. We've talked about doing something similar to a different country I doubt it will happen.

Stay away from those Voodoo ladies.

Excuse me? What about Ex snowbirds in the south???? LOL!

Congrats Shawn! Great news!

Congrats. You will want to make the Wooden Boat Festival in Madisonville about the 3rd week in October. Just a bit East, Mandeville is a great town....don't get me started on the food. Good Luck,

Don

Best of luck to you in the move! I hope the boat makes it over without incident. I agree on the suggestion to shrink-wrap.

I see that you're a Seahawks fan! I hope that this doesn't change with your impending move. ;)

Hey, I wanna go to work for that company!

Congrats on the move. I really like the NO area. I live in Biloxi, MS for a year while in the USAF. Great place.

Thanks Frank. A bigger boat may be in the works. The cost to move the 52-footer to the Gulf Coast was $25K and with all the boats available there it made no sense to move it. Hoping to get back into the simplicity of a Sundancer.

I lived in Houston for a couple of years in the late 70s and I have been coming down for the past 20 so I know what I'm getting in to....I hope.

No VooDooDoos.... But I can get a waterfront home on the lake there with a lift for the Cobalt in the backyard for about $275,000. I like that adventure.
