Hello All,

Not sure whether I'm posting this in the correct forum. However, I'm curious whether anyone has a recommendation for a marine electronics installer in the Austin, TX area (or services the Austin, TX area).

I just recently purchased a new marine electronics package (Fishfinder/Chartplotter, Radar, NMEA network, etc.) to install on my 1995 Sea Ray 400 EC. Most of these items are manufactured by Lowrance. I've called around locally and no one seems capable or willing to take on the job. This would be an install only job for the aforementioned items as the boat doesn't currently have any of the aforementioned items.

Thanks,
Tony

We don't have any installers out that way. The closest is Bill Platt in Houston. Go to Lowrance, Simrad, Garmin and Furuno's sites and look at their dealer locator. You should be able to find an installer near you that way.

Hydro Tunes on RR620. Not cheap, but absolutely top of the line professional service and installation.

Ditto Hydrotunes, but not cheap. I ended up doing most of the electronics work on my boats myself due to their quote, but they do great work. You might want to get with John DePrato or Shaun at Five Star Marine to see what they would charge. I'm guessing that you woyld need to haul the boat at least partially to install the transducers. Where are you keeping her slipped?

Thanks everyone! I'll check out Hydro-Tunes. I've called Platinum Marine, Sail and Ski, Five Star, just about any place that mentions electronics in their service description and they all recommend Boudreault Marine for this type of job. Problem is...while everyone gives them rave reviews, he indicated he would not be able to do my specific job (I think because I didn't purchase the equipment from him).

I even went on Lowrance's website to find an installer and a place relatively close, near Killeen, indicated that they could do the work. But, they won't travel to Lake Travis for the job given the size.

You're exactly right, that I will need to pull the boat out, which I was planning to do anyway for a bottom paint job. Just wanted to get everything done at the same time.

My boat is currently at Paradise Cove Marina. Just hoping I dont end up having to do the job on my own...
