manual head

Is this boat new to you? Usually the manual heads pull water via thru hull, so filling your water tank would have no impact. Check the position of the thru hull valve to make sure it's open.

The boats a 96'.I didn't know the heads pulled straight out of water.I have the boat trailered til tomorrow.I'll check the hull for blockage first thing before I put back in water.I pulled head apart everything looks good.May just get new unit this winter. Thanks

The valve should be located under the aft cabin bunk or in the engine compartment. I'll bet it was closed by the PO or marina and never opened back up. You don't want to mix your manual head water system with your on board drinking water! It's a BAD combination! It can be done, but requires special valves to assure the critters can't swim upstream into you water system!

Worst case, you can just use the shower wand or a cup to move water from the sink into the head. It should readily pump that out and will let you know if the head works right or not. Just put the valve on the toilet to "dry" and it should work just fine.

What kind of toilet it it? Jasco?

If your valves are open the way they should be and it's not sucking water in.......mine was doing the same thing. I replaced the "upper valve" and it works fine now.

Just a thought.

Good luck.

Just curious, but what is a normal water level for an onboard toilet?
Mine pumps ok, but the water level seems very low, just barely filling the exit trap.

I wonder if that valve can be partially open, or just open/closed?

That is where my water level is most of the time. Might even be a little lower if I am away from the boat for a week or so.

I had a snapring on the piston brake on mine. When I pulled it apart it looked ok, but did catch the snap ring gone so the piston was just ridding up and down the shaft.

Sounds like something may not have been put back together just quite right. Maybe a gasket pinched or folded over or something somewhere...just not quite sitting right on it's surfaces that it's supposed to seal.

I'm a new owner and I can't seem to locate the on valve for the in water used on the manual head. The boat is a 92 270DA. Thanks for any help.
