Man are boat prices going up

If I list a clean mid 1990s or newer boat, especially Sea Ray, it will be under contract within a day or less.

I recently listed a 1999 370 Sundancer which is absolutely pristine, we put it under contract within a few days of listing for full asking price and recieve no less than 100 calls or emails every week.

There was a new member here recently looking at an 80s 390 EC that “needed work” and had been laid up for years.

Asking price was 35k.

I bought my 360 5 years ago needing nothing but cleaning and tune ups for 12.5k.

I’ve considered selling to move up to the 390 and could get double what I paid, but where am I going with that in this market?

We have a 2008 jetboat we bought new in 2008 for 65K. Looked at new ones same size. Only difference is engine is a 383 ours is a 350. New prices are 110K plus options. Seen old boats like our listed for 70K.

Going up? From what I've seen I feel like we've been up for 12 months now!

I really do wish I could stomach being boatless for a summer. It would be a great time to sell and then buy that next boat when things cool down....I think :)

I agree, have considered selling this one and sitting out for a year or 2 and get right back in. Hard to imagine after all the work and $$ I've put into this one in the last year.

It would be a great time to get out of boating from a money perspective. My slip neighbour's Meridian 391 sold in something like 3 hours. I have had offers on my Sea Doos and could make money on them, no question. Seems like I could do the same with the RIB and even 44 too. My feeling is one of being incredibly lucky to own these boats at this moment!

The other part that is making the market crazy is low inventory of lots of models.

We had offers since January on two boats that were originally accepted then dropped because the seller couldn't find a suitable boat for their next boat so decided not to sell. One was moving up, the other slightly down. Both those "offers" were at full ask price.

This is on 50+ foot boats.

Dockmate bought a '92 500DA with Detroit 6V92's five years ago for $89K. Just sold it for $125K - new owner is trucking it from Chattanooga to Lake Meade...

I have a real clean 1990 39 Express for sale. It is a fresh water boat.

Congratulations sir! Make sure you post some details when you have time.
Boys I tried to get another Sea Ray but didn't work out ......so it's a CY 3375 twin 7.4MPI (re-powered in 2018).
Still dreaming of a twin diesel 40' or so, but going to run this one for a year or two.

I have a dock neighbor with a CY and we looked at them hard before we bought the 420DA. Looks like a clean boat that you will enjoy... Congrats!

I have its big brother. You will like the space compared to a similar SR 340. It will feel closer to a better 370. CY makes use if their beam much better IMO.

Congrats! Three close friends all switched to CYs in recent years and are very happy with them.

Thanks guys. Gonna bring it the ICW about 150 miles next weekend (Carolina Beach, NC to New Bern, NC) will start a thread and post some pics.

Started the buying process 2 months ago and finding a surveyor and mechanics was not easy....everybody is booked out for weeks.

I picked up a 1998 290 sundancer that sat for 7 years on land for 10,000 in 2019. I spent roughly $3,000 and about 200 hours to get her back to being beautiful. So I Put it in the water and first day a guy walks up to me at my dock and offers me $35,000 for it. Im like WTF. Looked at the wife and she says to me " no way we can go without a boat till you find a new one". I agreed and just smiled. I cant imagine what i could get now, Skyes the limit but still cant do it.
