Man are boat prices going up

I saw a '93 and a '94 200OV (I/O) on the local Craigslist. Both were listed in the 8k range and both ads were removed within a month, so I'm going to assume sold. Seems crazy to me. I jokingly told my kids at these selling prices, I should just sell it. The kids did not like that idea, once I clarified I would not be buying another.

Now is a good time to pull those barn projects / yard ornaments out, clean them up a little and post forsale

That's about right. I'm confident I could get $8000 for mine if I sold it. The NADA price is currently $7815.

Last time I looked up NADA on mine was a few years ago, and it was a "high retail" around $6k.

Just looked it up, it is now it now has a range of $8305-9445. sheesh

my opinion is you areleaving money on the table currently by selling on NADA prices.

I just bought a boat this past weekend. We were looking at early-mid 2000 bow riders or “wake” boats with a focus on build quality. I called on and looked at some real junk in the last few months. Like one I saw had a transom and out drive replaced due to hitting something. For next to new price. I called on a bunch that were just flat out scams once I called, and a few that had sold days/weeks before but the ad wasn’t pulled. Finally found a decent Supra that had a realistic price. It has good solid bones, needs a little vinyl work eventually and some polish on the colored hull, but I bought the seller as well as the boat. He let me do my own pre-buy and compression test with my engine inspection. We ended up a spending a little bit more than we would have 2 years ago but it’s still reasonable and the price ended up being much more aligned with pre-Covid than anything else I’ve seen. Quite surprised.

I’m considering selling my 2001 240 sundancer. I’ve been looking around at what people are asking for the same boat. Not much available but the cheapest one I found was $25,000. I only paid $17,000 for mine 6 years ago.

I’m shopping now. Lots of projects listed as mechanic specials or needs a little TLC.

I am starting to see “reduced price” and listings that are a month old still trying to sell. Inflated asking prices are causing a little hiccup in the profit gougers market right now.:)

One thing is paying a premium for a good boat but buying at gouging prices will provide tons of fire sale inventory when the music stops.

I’m looking for a classic 240 if you know of one.

I saw the same year & model as mine for sale on FB marketplace for $65k. I'd sell it in a NY minute if someone offered me that! Lol

It's not just the current events / social distancing driving people into boats and RVs causing prices to spike.

I think inflation is a factor too. After each financial crisis, boat prices seem to jump up in price. The good news is that you could sell your boat and get the money you paid for it. The bad news is that they money you got back just doesn't buy the same amount of stuff anymore.

+1 on the inflation. Government handing out cash, employers can’t find help unless they offer sign on bonuses and inflate the wages, driving prices higher.

Oil pipeline shut down. Gas soars and food prices jump hitting the middle class and poor.

Global supply chains snail along reducing supply. Demand high due to disposable cash.

It’s a perfect prescription to collapse the dollar.

I’m still buying a boat.

That seems to be the going rate for your boat this days. Post it at 70k and see what happens. :)

New water pump, seller will get top dollar...

Sadly they'll probably get full asking price.

Not just boats.
This is just like prices for puppies.
We lost our Golden in mid March and tried to adopt a rescue dog.
We wanted to get a puppy but was always too late to apply.
Almost all older rescue dogs had problems, either medical or behaviour (not to be around children).
People were selling mixed breed puppies on line for $1,500.00 +.
Anyways we ended up getting a in with a reputable breeder and purchased another Golden, $3,000.00
As a side note, a lot of pets that were obtained during the pandemic are now being sent to shelters or returned.

There’s a 2014 51 footer listed right below if for half the money.

It’ll be interesting to watch the price go down.

I paid $3.25/gl for diesel 2 weeks ago at Cedar Point…. But on the opposite side … I did pay $21.00 for a hamburger the other day with chips..... couldn’t afford the fries :)
