Low voltage at full speed

So i was at the lake today and looked down at the voltage and it was reading 10.4 volts at full speed it should read 13.5-14.6,so when i got home i wanted to see if i could find the problem so when i opened the motor box i looked at the alternater and i saw the wire behind the alternater was melted because the screw was making loose contact ,Iam very unhappy with the QC of this boat
