Hey all, new to the forum, so decided to jump on in:grin:

I have a 1992 17'bowrider with 120 mercruise IO.
The other day was out and hit a big wake, came down alittle hard, and continued on.
A bit later sounded like the engine was louder than what i am used to hearing, and felt a vibration in the steering wheel, and she started to list to the port.
Well took her home and checked things out. Didnt see anything wrong, went as far as to remove the outdrive and checked u joints. Everything seemed ok. Greased everthing up,put her back together. Started right up, no abnormal gauge readings, or anything. Took her out today, everything ran fine, no listing, but still seemed loud.
Checked all exhaust hoses and whatnot, again erything was ok.
Could the problem be in the lower unIt?
I would hate to take it apart for no reason.

Have you checked your motor mounts?

Could be exhaust bellows or motor mounts causing gimble bearing to make noise or bearing went bad just by chance.

Motor mounts seam ok. Havent had a chance to check bellows. How do you check the gimble bearing?
I was able to grease the bearing that the outdrive spline shaft goes through, that seemed to turn ok, no movement side to side.

Gimble bearing should have a zerk on the right side of outdrive right by the transom. Mounts may be tight but motor may have shifted out of alignment causing noise from bearing. turn bearing by hand it should be smooth as butter and no noise. I had a 4winns that the motor shifted and it cost me a motor coupler a gimble bearing and dive shaft. Or could be exhaust flapper
