Finally got around to a bunch of projects/upgrades that I have been putting off.
Thanks for all of the CSR input to questions prior to upgrading.
Made things go a lot easier!!

First of all I installed a new 200w Dual Stereo.
AM/FM - CD - with USB - AUX inputs on the face.
With Remote.

Then I finally got around to installing the Flat Panel LCD that I have been looking at for the past season and a half.

Installed a Dynex 22" with built-in DVD Player form Best Buy.
Still need to install a wire mold to cover exposed wiring.

Had to tap into the 110v wiring going to the central vac and install an outlet in the closet to behind the mirror next to the tv.
Then wired a 3.5mm jack from headphone jack back to the AUX stereo jack so that when on aux it plays through the speakers in cockpit while watching the football games outside.

Then I went from this look in the salon:
PO's sad attempt to customize the two tables in the salon.

Had the stock kidney table cleaned up and new granite looking formica laminated.
Changed the location of the cup holders on the larger table and installed Stainless Holders from Flounder Pounder.
Then made a new smaller kidney shaped table to replace the worthless 24" round table on the starboard side. Had this laminated in the same material.

Added a lot more available seating for our Saturday Night Dinners.
NOTE: Scott F you still have an open invite!

Last "cool mod" was the addition of a Cockpit Table for those alfresco dining nights.
After doing a lot of research here on CSR and contacting a lot of sources I decided that the $700 - $1200 expense of stock was out of the question.

Picked up a stock Sea Ray base from PW Marine, Post and Surface Mount base from Garelick and made a table with 1/2 round bullnose edge with formica top for a total out lay of less than $400.

Next on the agenda: Replace carpet with hardwood and build new hardwood stairs to the salon.

Still researching the options and enjoying the banter on CSR.

Sorry for rambling on!

Dan

Looks good - nicely done! You going to use actual hardwood in the cabin or a laminate floor?

Probably going to use some sort of a pre-finished hardwood.
That way I can have my stairs and risers match a little bit better.
Not really concerned about 3/4" height difference.
More concerned on how to 'picture frame' the 18" x 36" sump floor access.
My trim carpenter ( I am a general contractor ) has some ideas.

Any one have ideas?

Dan

Lookin' good.

Lookin' really good. Now you need to get an upgraded VHF?

Is the current hatch hinged? I've looked at something like this - like a picture frame.

Great work Dan ... looks terrific and gives your boat so much more utility. I am looking to make a cockpit table as well. We also like to be able to slide it around as opposed to a fixed base. What are the dimensions of your table top? Is the base nice & stable? Do you think that your base would handle a top a bit larger without being too tippy?

Enjoy your new 'cool mods' ~ Ken

Ken

Table top is 36 x 28
It is very stable
Ran 14 miles last weekend up and back to Chicago and it never moved
Base should be able to handle a couple more inches either way

Post is 20" tall
I had to add 2.5" to the bottom of the table to raise it enough
Garelick has limited lengths in fixed posts

I take the top and post off when we are gone from the boat.

Scott
I am there Sat and Sunday
With your Whaler it is a 1.5 mile run to the Calumet from Hammond
Then a ride through the triangle to downtown
We are thinking about going down river this weekend if weather permits
Give me a call if you are interested

Thanx for getting back so quick Dan. Size sounds quite workable ... I'll take a look this w/e. I will also check out Garelick's web site.
