Lost Dog

There are some real dicks out there. We have 2 golden retrievers. We live on a large parcel of land. My dogs are allowed to run free. They have never been on a leash. They stay pretty close to home.

I have the same situation, lots of room, let the dogs run. The dogs were usually within shouting range. My last dog, giant schnauzer was really good. If he heard me he'd answer back with a bark. If I got no answer I'd honk my truck horn then listen for his answer. I did train him with shock collar. If I couldn't hear him answer, I'd zap him and he'd be back shortly, so he did have some limits in range.

I don't think it's correct to say that I've lost a dog. It's more like they just went on an adventure

Great. So now you have one of those animals that they say are very clean. They are constantly cleaning themselves, no doubt there. Then they, if your lucky, 'most time's they piss or shit in a box of oil-dry or the or the 7000 other different kinds of magic litter box absorbent they sell you, only to walk/climb/lounge through your entire home after walking through said box. We found a dog it had a long leash on it and dog tags. We figured it would take us to its home if we took it for a walk and let it lead. We went for a very long walk. It did not go to its home. Next day we called city with dog tag info. They gave us owners phone number. Owner came and picked up dog. It was very happy to see its owner. Was 40 years go. Do not think city would give you info now. Moral of story put you address on a separate dog tag. No idea how chips work. We used to get out cats ear tattoo that was in city registry.

Forget the address use a phone number in case he takes off while traveling
