I have lost a cabin key to my 87 340ec, does anyone have someplace that they can suggest that might have these still?
It's the long, skinny skeleton type key.

I have contacted SR and they don't have them anymore...
Not very good service I would say... No matter the age of the boat, these types of things should still be available.

Thanks!

If your boat is like the boats built in the 90's there are only a few keys made... There should be a code on the lock, like 818... Once you get the code you should be able to go to your marine a borrow someones key that fits your boat, and make a copy of it...

Some of you recall I'm a locksmith so I'm happy to help where I can. Bomar/Pompanette made most of the "US Marine" salon door locks. This included SeaRay and Bayliner.
Listen up ! There are Old styles and new styles. Look at the images carefully. Compare your keys as if you're looking down the end of a gun. Note the shape and cuts and verify the number. If your key is Stamped "8" verify the end view and cut shape. It could be an old #8 or new #10.

If you don't know your key number because it was lost, take the cassette out of the door and the key number should be stamped around the key hole. .Since you won't know what version (old or new) tell the Customer service rep what year your boat is and they should be able to help.

Now, how to order? The best way is for you to contact them directly.
You can contact Clara and order this directly. Cost is $31 ea + shipping. This way you don’t have to run it through me and have a markup.

Clara’s phone # is (603) 826-5791. Simply ask for Customer service. She is tremendously helpful and polite.

If you'd like a PDF of this you can PM me your email address and I'll send it along.

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys!
I actually got an email from a local guy that says he has some...

I really appreciate the time there, Todd... You've outdone yourself!

$31 huh?
WOW!!!!!

Hopefully the ones this guy has are cheaper... You should be able to buy a new lock for that... OUCH!

Thanks again all!

No I understand. To make one by hand runs about $25-40. The blank is about $10 and then consider the labor and knowledge to actually make it. Not all locksmiths know the bit keys.
For me their price is reasonable. You also may not find new replacement locks just sitting around.
Good luck.
