Lots of posts on CSR looking for a way to add AC running off a generator or inverter. This portable battery powered AC unit looks like a great way to achieve some cooling without the need for a generator or inverter!

I was looking into this back in fall. This would be nice when at anchor overnight. I do not like to run my generator at night, but strugle with the heat when sleeping.

If it is I bet there’s a microphone hidden in it.

If it is, I'm willing to bet it doesn't work as advertised, and is filled with cheap crappy manufactured parts that will fail in short order.

The website makes no mention of where the seller is actually located, no address, no phone number. Yea, I'll give them my credit card number and PII. Not.

Company is out of San Francisco, used Kickstarter for the first version development, and Indiegogo for the second version. Raised $1.5M in capital.

Personally I think they are legit, and for a small boat looking for some portable cooling, these would be ideal. No more Honda generator on the swim platform!

Considering the cost of a marine generator and AC installed, for a small cuddy owner, I'd give it a try. Might be better than this

Cheap Chinese components...probably. We don't make stuff in the US anymore.

Battery life has to be a major limiting factor even if the product design is good.

Definitely. I thought I saw you can get multiple batteries stacked on the bottom and a 12 VDC to 24VDC adaptor. I'm not in the market, but I dont think its unreasonably priced. A new Marine AC is around $1500-$2000 and thats assuming you have a generator.

I'll commend them for trying. It would be interesting to get a first had account of one.

I thought at first it was an evaporative cooling unit which of course is a nonsensical approach if you live in a humid climate. Looking at it further, it has an inverter to power an actual condenser. Still, the performance claims seem to be a stretch. There is a big difference in keeping a small tent cool at night and trying to cool the cabin of a boat.

I cant imagine anyone trying to cool a tent!
