Hi All,
Just wanted to share a bit of information I searched out while working on rebuilding my windlass motor. My 330 has a Lofrans Progess 1 installed, and I was having problems getting it to work consistently. I pulled the solenoid out so and cleaned the contacts, which helped slightly, but it still took a tap on the side of the motor to get it to run well indicating loose or bad brushes.
Pulled the motor out and apart.
First thing I found was three of the four brushes moved easily, the fourth was stuck in it's holder. Tried to work it loose, and in the process broke it. Now, we'll just call me "frugal." I couldn't bring myself to spend $85.00 on four brushes when I only needed one. This was only compounded by the fact that I am used to brushes costing anywhere from $3-5 per brush. So the search was on. Lofran's (Imtra) website lists the dimensions of the brushes.
After scouring eBay, Amazon, and every local auto parts website, I found that the Bosch 1007014100 was the same dimension. The only local store that could cross reference the part number was NAPA. The NAPA part number, for those curious, is ECH E554. These were special order for the store because, per the guy at NAPA, "Nobody fixes their starters anymore," and cost $18.49 for four. They are also available for slightly cheaper on Amazon.
After installing and testing these, I can confirm that they work with at least the Lofrans 1,000W motor.
Hope this helps someone else, and saves some searching!
Nic
